Costa, Cesc, Chelsea, Arsenal and Arsene.

Long and somewhat Rantish read, you have been warned.

Truth is Chelsea have got themselves two unreal bargains in Fabregas and D. Costa (and some how sold Luiz for £50m ).

For a club with essentially bottomless pockets and a recent history of often paying over the top they've already pulled off a trio of summer deals to match any in History (and all before the World Cup... well close enough anyway ).

To the bitter and misinformed people poo poo-ing Fabregas' current ability and sighting Barca's willingness to let him go, let me tell you now - he is up there with the very best and possibility the best CM/CAM around. Just like with Ibrahimovic, when a player doesn't fit the system at Barca they're shown the door sharpish and for whatever half decent sum is chucked their way.

D. Costa isn't quite on the World Class level just yet IMO but he's easily up there with the top 3 even-remotely-available strikers around and there's a case for saying he's the best (on this seasons form anyway).

On to Arsenal. Chelsea fans, feel free to skip this part

We are crying out for signings and a striker has to be top priority, not any old striker but a real Worldie as Merson would put it. D. Costa as I've said, is there or there abouts, he may well and more than likely would have chosen Chelsea over us but FFS why didn't we move heaven & earth in an attempt to sign him (a buyout btw does not take much negotiation)!? Pace, movement, power, finishing and a fire inside him that all great teams need (albeit one that boils over the top a bit too much for my liking).

Fabregas would have made us better, no doubt. He also ISN'T the player we need most, in fact we need a CF,LW, DM, RB, CB and GK a lot more (some as squad players, some as first team) but my word we could still regret not having our old Spaniard back on board, he's THAT good.

Arsene has so far made two very bold decisions by ignoring Costa and Fabregas. It will take at least 2 incredible signings and a few very decent ones but with the right moves it will have been a great decision. However, reality is he has it all to do and for longer than I care to remember he has a terrible record in the market - he's had well over a year with huge cash reserves and unlike any manager in the World a hell of a lot more years to identify and buy the players missing from his team.

Over to you Arsene (again)...

If good moves faster than evil and Chelsea have signed players faster than Arsenal, doesn't that make us good and you evil?

Well it's what you wrote, so it's not a question of what I believe - it's a question of what you believe.

How much are Costa's and Cesc wages BTW?

Is it? In that case, I believe in the sentiment of my original comment. Chelsea were strong anyway, and will be stronger with Fabregas and if they sign Diego Costa they will have a top striker in their ranks.

But I do believe in the order of the Universe. That is my belief. I see Chelsea as a soul-less set-up, populated by faceless slugs with no personality.

I'm more focussed on what Arsenal are doing with regards to their transfers. Luckily, knowing what I know, I'm more than confident for next season, believe me!

Some good and valid points.

But listen here. You're going to be VERY surprised come the end of this transfer window, VERY surprised with regards to Arsenal.

Chelsea are strong and getting stronger, but the soul-less army of darkness will continue to add to it's legions of vacuous, empty troops...

Evil moves fast, but good moves faster.

Don't abandon hope, because something amazing is in the offing and what makes it even sweeter is that nobody even realises the enormity of what's on the horizon. This is bigtime baby! *BOOKMARK

I can see why arsenal fans would be annoyed. Costa at £32m is a steal. When you compare to last summer, the two best available strikers were Falcao and Cavani, and they both went for £60m+.

And let's say Fabregas cost us £30m (as opposed to the lowest £27m mooted). £62m for two players who I think would have made Arsenal title contenders.

It's ok saying, well we've got loads of good centre midfielders, but competition is what keeps top teams at the top. And as the op said, Fabregas a would still walk into your midfield.

I think sadly despite how much you and I may detest Chelsea they're gonna be distancing the gap between us and them in the coming season. We just don't have enough ambition to do what it takes. Not that I wouldn't love to be proved wrong.

Oh and, apologies for the late reply Moist!
