Not sure how I feel about this deal. Going by previous reports, 20mil for a 29 year old left back doesn't exactly strike me as value for money. Especially when you consider we have no younger LB coming in to replace him after a few years. Which means there's likely going to be another large investment required in the "near" future. Unless Mourinho actually thinks PvA can step up that is...
Anyway, on the bright side, he fills a need and hopefully this will mean Azpi can finally go to his rightful place as RB. Not sure what this means for Ivanovic though.

If he was the difference between winning the PL, CL or both then I couldn't care less how much he costs, Not my money!

I'd rather we spent a bit extra on a much younger Luke Shaw!

Brummie Agree with you 100%... its a baffling decision by the club.

Luke Shaw is good, but still inexperienced at the top level and very young to have a lot of pressure on him. The time for us to be winning big trophies again is now, buying experienced players to slot in the team makes sense atm. We have been in "transition" for 2 seasons now.

I don't see why we can't buy Shaw as well, sell Bertrand. But two big signings in one position is unlikely I guess.

It makes sense to me Kev because with Lamps and Cole departing we're a bit thin on the ground for English players!
