OK, Irvine's got the job and he's not the guy we wanted.
I'm prepared to give the guy my backing. Let's not make him a target for abuse before a ball's been kicked. It may seem unlikely right now but he may not turn out to be all that bad!
As for JP, i'm willing to give him one last chance to redeem himself.
Fact is JP has a budget for all the playing and coaching staff. This will include transfer fees, wages, bonuses, etc.
In theory, the less we spend on the coaching staff, the more we'll have to spend on the playing staff. Given the scale of the job we've got to rebuild the squad this summer, there's a strong argument that forking out millions on Sherwood plus 2 other coaches was never a good idea.
So all i'm saying is as far as JP is concerned, i'll give him until the end of August to redeem himself. If he backs Irvine financially, not just in transfer fees but also re. players wages, then he has the opportunity to earn back my support amongst others.
Let's sit tight and see what happens. Poor financial backing between now and the end of the summer and, fair enough, it's open season on JP!
JP's chance to redeem himself!
