Patience everyone. Looking forward to this unraveling and how Jose manages this.
Considering he's asked Schwarzer to stay on is this the end of Cech at CFC ? Will Courtois be 2nd choice ?
It's all very interesting

I think he just has to pick one and stick with him for the vast majority of the season,Bovril. The idea that, say, if Chelsea get to a Champions League semi-final, he will play one in the 1st leg and one in the 2nd is ludicrous and would be unsatisfactory for both of them.

Gunner but it all depends on Cech. If he is as happy at Chelsea as we're lead to believe then it's not inconceivable that he will stay at Chelsea.
Take into account that Cech suffered a major head injury that could have killed him. He's lucky to be alive let alone playing football.
Being a well used 2nd choice keeper might suit Cech and would certainly prolong his career.
He could still play in all FA Cup games and League Cup games as well as whenever Courtois is injured/suspended/out of form.

In my experience once that old collar bone starts popping out it becomes a real problem. I have seen it happen to someone when canoeing and the pain was clear, my mate, best central defender I ever played with had to give up playing as sometimes just jumping for the ball was enough for it to pop out. Now I expect Cech will get much better treatment than most but he may have longer term problems from it and may be best suited to a support role. That way he can still be involved, would be great cover and can continue to work on his badges.

Courtois won't be happy if he doesn't play FA Cup and Champions League football to go with every Premier League game. This is something he's stated many times. So the only reason he's coming back is if we have guaranteed him all football.
Sadly this means Cech is on his way out.

Courtois would play all PL and CL games if fit/available. I'm sure that will be more than enough for him.

What does that leave Cech with then superb ? FA Cup and League Cup games. Chelsea could get knocked out after 1 game in each ( unlikely, but possible) A goalkeeper is also less likely to be suspended or injured like an outfield player.

That's about right, of course it all depends on Cech.
Cech loves Chelsea, he has been a great servant and has stated he would like to remain at Chelsea in some capacity when his career is done, it will depend on how he feels. Cech is getting on and Carlo found himself in this situation when Cech joined, he moved on after a year but wasn;t first choice at Tottenham for long either.
All that aside, I think a dislocated collar bone, fixed or not is a going to be a problem for a keeper and he may end up spending more time injured if he remains a first choice keeper.

My guess if a decent offer comes in we will let Cech go.

Unlikely that would happen, let's be honest.
Either way at Chelsea our keepers have a nack of getting injured often so it would be great to have Cech to call upon if needed.
Goalkeeper is arguably the most important individual position in a team so why not have excellent backup there ?
If Cech is happy to stay then we'll be happy to keep him. Clearly our rivals won't be happy about us having both Courtois and Cech but that would be their problem not ours
