It's true, but what else do we have to cling on to now that our teams regularly perform badly in Europe?

Not sure if the club could accommodate 75 new playing staff lol!

It seems though following every WC game, another player is mentioned on here, and then the advantages of signing them, when in fact there has been no suggestion that the player is even on the club’s radar in the first instance.

The physicality of the BPL is overplayed. Alexis gets kicked regularly by the hackers & plodders in mid-lower table La Liga. I watched him get kicked around the stadium in a WCQ in Columbia last year & he was still the best player on the field - scored 2 goals in a 3-3 draw.

The premier league is far more physical and intense. Ask any player who has moved from Liga to the prem. We have had that problem with Reyes. But also with Arshavin and Cazorla who have both also suffered from being slightly built.

International football for all its hype is slower than club football for the obvious reasons that the players are not fully used to playing with each other day in/day out and the tournaments are organised after tough seasons across Europe.

I don't doubt Alexis talent when he is given the whole freedom of the pitch like Spain gave him yesterday. However its a completely different animal being tightly marked in a fast physical environment like the prem. Whats more there is a reason Barca don't want him. Alexis has not lived up to the expectation at Barca precisely because opposing teams setup to drop deep and deny space. Alexis has never changed his game to combat that and so has slowly dropped out of first choice selection.

I am glad that some of the Arsenal fans on here are not in charge of the club’s recruitment strategy.

The club would have about 50 forwards and 25 wingers by now.

Did you see the physical shift Chile put in last night and how much English physical gods are struggling with the heat so far this summer?

Such a fackin myth that PL is this mythical hardman league full of brutal monsters 9 feet tall.

Who are the best players in the league? - Predominantly reasonably lightweight attacking players.
