I am still hearing that there is no deal YET for the player to join Chelsea but for now lets assume he is a Chelsea player.
Chelsea are in need of a PROVEN goalscorer and seem to have opted for Costa who had a fantastic season.
That is it.... in my book just one prolific season does not make you a proven goalscorer. For me it has to happen for a couple to a few seasons.
So my question is, are we trying our luck with Costa?
I know we are looking at other strikers and ideally would like 2 brought in this summer but this begs the question. If Costa is a one season woner then we will need another striker so who will it be?
Would we all be happier if we were to grab another striker? Or would we feel that it hinders Costa as our no. 1? ( as he may have been when Aguero and Forlan were at Atletico)
Costa has only had 1 season of being up there with some of the worlds best so there are no garentees that he will be prolific for us.
For me i fear that Costa MAY not be enough. This is not based on 2 WC performances (of which weren't that bad on his part) This is based on his career so far.
I would be much happier and more comfortable if we were to bring in 1 more striker that we KNOW will hit the ground runing.
What are your boys and girls thoughts on Costa? And do we need more?
Any drivel from rival fans referencing Spains WC will be ignored as that is not the point of the article.

He is Cavani.2!!!
Just hits the ball as hard as he in an any general direction, you do that 6/7 times a game you'd expect one to go in.

He also splits defences like a boss and creates space for others.
I think you may be discrediting both players there Busby

I can't see us getting another striker unless we sell at least 2 out of Ba, Lukaku and Torres. If we are able to get 2 of them out then i would quite like us to go for someone like Campbell from Cardiff.

They do have good movement, I guess I just like a striker with more natural ability than brut force.
Maybe I've just not seen enough of them, only about 10 games a piece over a 2 year period, they've just never really impressed me. Both have proven they can score goals in the right system though, which is all you can really expect from a striker.

Not sure about Bony - he looked quite poor at the start of the season I thought

You have to remember his performances for Spain come on the back of an injury ravaged end of the season. Also he has barely played for Spain, and was pretty much thrown into a style he is not suited to.
Also the one season wonder thing is a bit inaccurate. He was quality in 12/13, but his role was slightly different due to Falcao being Madrids main man.

Spot on, except for one small thing: they're not Madrid!

Spain have been awful at this World Cup. Costa's performances clearly suffered as a result.
Why not pick out the likes of Iniesta, Silva or Alonso for criticism instead? They were just as much if not not more to blame.

Don't take it to heart Sup, a lot of them have been picked out - most are just trying to wum you Chelsea guys. Also logical that he's drawn more attention being in all but signature a CFC player, and additional attention considering his inclusion was one of the main talking points re Spain ahead of the World Cup.
Anyhow, fwiw I think Iniesta was our only half-decent player over both games. Azpi didn't do much wrong, but didn't do that much in general tbh. Silva was absolutely shocking esp. vs Chile, Alonso I have simply never rated as being everything he's generally made out to be. Casillas, Ramos, Alba, Pique, Torres...almost every player that comes to mind was poor or worse.
