amongst the English fans and the press.
So, who to blame this time?
Roy?
Gerrard?
Rooney?
Sturridge?
Cahill?
People are blaming players of the other teams and letting their team bias cloud their judgement.
The problem isn't the players. It is the press and the fans believing the team to be better than it is. It isn't. Get over it and move on.
Rooney, the only player close to world class in the team.
Sturridge, great season for Liverpool. He needs to learn to be a team player.
Sterling, young and will improve.
Gerrard, not a DM or a Pirlo type player. Other than Carrick and Barry (who was blamed for the German goal in a previous tournament), is there any decent English DM? No.
Baines, wasn't good enough. But then again, wasn't protected either.
Johnson, (supposedly) the best English RB. Not his fault that everyone else is cack.
CB pairing. They are decent but not in the same class as the other CBs we have in the last 15 years+ years. Why expect more from them? Cahill was carried by a 33 CB at Chelsea.
Henderson - huff and puff but nothing else really.
Wilshere is not the answer either. Especially if there is no DM.
Welbeck - Not a winger and stop using him as a defensive winger. Yes, he high amounts of energy but use him out of position and get rubbish performances (and that should apply to all the players who are used out of position despite not being good in that position).
Ross Barkley - looks like a talent but still young, naive and not Rooney of 2004 for us or Owen of 98. They were a step above back then to what Ross Barkley is at this moment in time.
Thinking players like Ox, Lallana, or Lampard could come on and change the game or would have done better than the players playing is fallacy. You are thinking the ones not playing are better than they are or are clouded by club bias.
Again. The team is the 3rd best in the group. With a little luck, maybe England would have done better, but the team isn't better than either Italy or Uruguay.
It is time to rate the team for what it is rather than for what it isn't.
Another bad tournament and another fall out

There are a variety of issues but the truth is most of the managers we've had have let others pick teams for them.
I would have had more sympathy for Roy I'd he had taken all the kids and kept the Gerrards and Lumpards of this world. Alas he didn't and we are on the way out.

Lampard didn't get a chance to play, so why be stupid and derogatory towards him? It makes you look pathetic.

The press were actually quite negative with many saying we won't get out of group.

MUDD I've heard the 'Give the kids a go' thing before. But what happens is when those kids falter, the press and the English fans jump on them. That would absolutely destroy any morale left when players play for England.
Kash, the press have been negative and then suddenly there were snippets of "England might actually do well" and the under rating for Uruguay. They also went out to get Rooney. Most of the negatives has been focused on Rooney rather than the whole team.

Makes me look pathetic? In what way?
We have tried Gerrard and Lampard for close to a decade and they have not done anything for the national team.
Try something else

Which further illustrates the weakness of the management structure at the national level. You turn the ire of the people away from the players and make the media the scapegoats.
Look at what Germany did, they were like, okay, our old guys are crap, let's start the kids, see what happens. We need a manager with the balls to do that.
Roy let the media pick his team for him, like so many managers before him

There needs to be a top to bottom revamp of grass roots football and the way we teach kids to play football or we will keep producing overrated tripe.

We can talk about managers, tactics or FA till the cows come home but there is one sole reason for our failures at this stage.
The england players are just not good enough.

You can hide these deficiencies with tactics though Vikk
