Just under a year ago I posted an article on some names to watch in women's tennis, one of whom was Madison Keys.

This is what Heather Watson said of her defeat to Keys yesterday:
"I feel that of all the WTA matches I have ever played, ITF, pro, anything, I think today was against my toughest opponent ever," said Watson. "I think she played really, really well, with a massive serve and massive groundstrokes."
I've always been a big fan of Bouchard's who is now demonstrating that talent on top of world stage and also Vekic has now broken through, having won her first title.
Watson is making great progress on her comeback, hopefully Robson can do the same.
The other girl I mentioned at the time was Konjuh. She's had an injury that has kept her out for some months this year, but when back to full fitness I reckon she could be top 20 within a few years.

Are there any less comfortably off British tennis players making progress or are we still at the 'keep em out' school of thought down at SW19.

Not a fan of Bouchard - the hype overwhelms the talent.
The usual suspects above really and not much more.

I honk Bouchard has what it takes, particularly character, I think she has a certain degree of psychopathic tendencies which enable her to be really cool under pressure.
Interesting to see Konjuh won in first round today!
