Well, put it in this way. Spurs finished below West Ham before Harry Redknapp (another West Ham product) took in charge (of their sinking ship) and level on points a season after.
Then Spurs had few good seasons under Harry, whilst the then, West Ham owners, had few financial difficulties, wasted money on players and managers. Now, under Big Sam and Dave's, who have high ambitions, it is the time to make some ground over Spurs and finish above them.
Spurs don't have money to bring big players like they did in the last season, unless Desperate Dan dip into uncles pocket. Whereas, with new sponsorship deals West Ham have already strengthened the team...and few more good players to come.
So, i would say bring it on...

Now, now you added the word "vastly" for effect.
Spurs still may have a stronger squad than West Ham, not including your defence obviously, but there isn't much between our best elevens.
Of course you took 4 points from us this season, but both games were incredibly close. The game at the Boleyn could have been won by either side and as for the game at WHL, well the Hammers were seconds away from winning. I'm not saying you got lucky btw, just saying how tight they both were.
