Goes to the world cup with in form and talented players and fails to win a single game for the first in ages against teams with inferior players, yet not under a tiny bit of pressure.
How does Roy Hodgson do it?

Hodge-podge is the second highest earning manager in international football. Can't help thinking that money would be better served being pumped into football academies in this country.

Greece and Santos are parting ways this summer after the world cup.
He is on 520k a season and is reportedly going to sign for Gabon after.
Im sure hed rather england if you gave him 600k?
Good track record of getting teams through to knockout stages of international tournaments and lost 5 games in 3 years i think.

An average manager and a yes man who's aim is to reduce expectations amongst the fan base of the team he manages . He tried it with Liverpool and the fans wouldn't accept it. He's getting away with it with England.

not really... his expectations were realistic.
tough group to get out of with average players.
same at liverpool. average players, poor form.
Only England expected England to walk through to the knockout stages.
most others saw it a struggle at best.

I don;t think England fans expected too much from this WC., but given the results you would have expected the red tops to have turned Hodgson into some form of vegetable by by now, but he remains relatively unscathed and looks likely to keep his job.
Yes it was a tough group to get out of. made even tougher having an average manager in charge.

The italy and england managers were on a par of how bad they were

While I don't rate Hodgson at all, I think you have to wait until the end of tournament to judge how bad we were.
European teams are dropping like flies. It's entirely possible that none of them will reach the semi-final, and if that happened despite the Dutch and French looking very good in the early stages, our own exit wouldn't look so bad in the backdrop of a poor tournament for Europeans full stop.
Also it's hard to judge how difficult or not our group was. Everyone is saying it was tough, and on paper that's true, but if Costa Rica and Uruguay get beat in the last 16 suddenly it didn't look so tough.
I think Hodgson is getting away with it purely because the tournament is in Brazil, he is English, and he picked a few youngsters in his squad.
Prandelli got to the Euro final so his expectations were automatically a bit higher. He had an experienced squad with only 5 players under 24, while Italy reached the final last time the tournament was in Brazil.
The only comfort I can take is that Hodgson won't last longer than 2016, so we are over half way through his imperious reign.

i dont rate hodgson either, and the conditions in brazil dont help to play how he was trying t get them to play... england were sensational for the first 30-40 minutes against italy (i think) but you can not pay like that in such humid conditions and thick grass (Brazil stadiums use thicker grass and dont cut it as short because it helps with stepovers and all the tricky flicks etc they want to see).
Also, teams with far greater players are out at the same stage (Italy, Spain, Croatia, Portugal).
Greece to the final!

We weren't sensational at all.
That Italy game has taken on mythical proportions.
We were decent, that's all.

the use of the word 'sensational' was done based on comparison to the rest of england 240 mins they played.
