Did nothing wrong

He stays on his feet twice following fouls and was completely taken out by two players.

No penalty.

He dives.

Penalty.

Go figures who's fault it is players feel the need to overstate fouls.

To be fair, he didnt just dive the once, and probably got turned down for the penalty that was because of crying wolf all the time. And the pen that was given was probably to even up the one he got wrong.

Unfortunately, until some kind of ban by video evidence comes in, the refs just have to take a wild guess if its play acting or not.

This is all true.

In the end I couldn't blame him even though he dived for the penalty.

The problem is, if you retrospectively punish players for diving then you have to retrospectively punish refs for not giving clear penalties.

Clear penalties should be easier to judge though if they know players are less likley to con them.
