The deal was completed late last night, with an initial fee of three million euros, although the chief sports writer at the local paper has suggested this morning that United still own a percentage of the player.
Gauld himself has signed a 6 year deal with a minimum release clause of 60 million euros.
As disappointed as I am to see the wee man go, I'm really excited for him and wish him all the best. He's got the world at his feet and it's been an absolute priviledge to see him in the tangerine of United.
It seems weird seeing a United player move to a team playing in green and white hoops and not being annoyed about it.
I thought I'd pop this article on early as I'll probably not be around much today to discuss it after a family bereavement last night. So be nice everyone.

I think it's great to see young Scots heading overseas at that age - hope it leads to more making that move. It might help realise the potential of talent which often never fulfils expectations.

i'd say so Lisbon like to breed young players.

That's exciting for him, i'm sure they have a chance of qualiying for the CL this season too.

it's a terrific move, much better than to a lower EPL or championship team.
i'd like celtic to have gone in for him, but we would just stunt his development sadly.

I just hope he gets a chance out there and plays.
The boys seems to have the talent, learning abroad can only benefit him and Scotland of course.
Sorry to hear of your lost Ivan

Condolences Ivan.
Great move for Gauld, hopefully he can flourish away from some of the hammerthrowers treatment he was getting here.
