I personally think regardless of the "type of game" yesterday was, it is fakin embarrassing that Rangers were scraping a draw with Brora Rangers.
We were slow, cumbersome, and lethargic in last years pre season fixtures and it resulted in us getting beat off Forfar in the league cup.
same again this year by looks of it.
Maybe a defeat to hibs in challenge cup and hearts on opening day of season wont be too bad, means we might actually get rid of that useless cant in charge
Does pre season set a tone?

I think the players we have can be a decent enough side, its the manager that is the root of the problem
he is a frking dud
managers make the difference
btw im not saying I want us to lose, im saying that perhaps if we do, then it might force change

Stevie - its pre season, he has taken some of the young players up to be involved and the likes of Gasparotto, Murdoch, McKay, Gallagher, Aird and Crawford have had the same game time as the senior players. In addition, you have MacLeod still to come back and Halkett who has played in both games.
Its just interesting that rather than coming on this morning and saying "good to see some of the kids involved, this guy looked good or that guy looked good" we have a thread aimed at slating the manager and team again for not winning a meaningless match.
Do you not see the irony in people badgering for ages about playing youth in competitive matches, yet when they get a chance in a friendly they are slated for not winning the game?
Exactly the same after the results against Forfar and Stirling Albion at home, where the team was littered with Auchenhowie graduates and were booed off on both occasions for not getting a result.
There is some kind of romantic fantasy amongst Rangers fans that our youth teams are littered with Barcelona-esque players who are just refused a chance to star because of the manager. The reality is any time these guys have played they havent taken their chance, and those who have been let go find themselves starring at Accrington Stanley and Morton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the lack of imagination is where folk are annoyed rather than the score line.
However both are inextricably linked if we play hoof baw we'll struggle to break the teams down.

I'm sorry, but I'm not praising the manager for giving half's to youth's in pre-season friendlies.....he should be doing that as a minimum.
Those who are let go have not been given any real chance to prove themselves at a decent established level so that is why they end up at the clubs you name.
People are allowed to slate the team for a poor performance, and can do so without blaming the kids, when out of the 21 players used in the game at the weekend, only 9 of them were under 23, and none of them played the full 90.

"No one did, just the usual slating the manager for having the audacity to experiment and give some of the kids a game in a friendly match."
Bollox Smid, a bad performance is a bad performance....havent seen a single person going "fck sake Ally, what did you play the kids for, what did you experiment for!"
"Sort of makes you realise now why he didnt do that when this is the reaction to drawing a pre season kick about with a load of kids playing."...again, utter bollox Smid.
Why is it that the only reason being put forward as to why we had a poor performacne yesterday is becasue we played teh kids, and FCK all is laid at Ally's door for perhaps the manner of the play, the formation, tactics played etc...
Automaticall, the kids are blamed, its YOU thats doing this Smid, not anyone else!!
what people want is to see better footbal than the $hite thats being played, kids and esperiecned pros are capable of playing that kind of football, and the manager is the one that gets them playing it...so he's responsible if it doesnt come, hence the stick!!
Kids can win games under the right system and the right manager with teh right development.
Fed up of the "kids arent good enough" argument gettign flung forward every time and not a single fcking iota of criticism being aimed at the manger perhaps for how he is using the kids and evey other player we have to play hoof baw, defensive minded, $hite feart , too cautious fitba with umpteen players out of position!!
It pi$h Smid, and kids arent the casue of that!!

its not about not winning its the continuation of the same laboured $hitey tactics and style of play that's seen us come a cropper in games where it matters
giving the baw to mcculloch to lump high or give it to Wallace and see if he can do anything doesn't work and it wont work against better teams

See if you read my first comment on this post you will see I said this Smid.
"Not looking too much into this result at the moment.
More the performance.
Although pre-season doesnt mean much results, wise, if the performances dont pick up as pre-season progresses, then its a worry.
Too often at this club there is an "och it'll be awright" mentality, thats my worry"
The staunch defense of Ally when it looks as though nothing has changed and things will get better, its fine....but it doesnt, thats what pi$$es me off.
I was not overly bothered by that result, and at no point was I slating Ally because we didnt win at the weekend.
Was yourself that started down the young players route!
I was reacting to people excusing things that happened last season with the results argument.
We cant continue to play $hite fitba with over qualified players and expect to win all the time.
We need to build a team, one that can last a while and start playing better football...we aint doing that
