The world cup is almost over and when it comes to England I think most of us realise why they are on the decline. However, thus article sums it up perfectly for me and highlights the glaringly obvious problem and solution.

Going in to the world cup England had the third most valuable squad at 550 million. With that 550 million you could buy the entire Chile, Columbia and Switzerland squad and still have 200 million left to buy the entire Italian squad.
Our problem is we have an over inflated domestic league that pays and values our players way way beyond their ability. But whilst the Fa, premier league, clubs and players get richer it's us the fans who have to suffer the severe drop off in talent and motivation to play for the shirt.
Value of the England football team

It's an an opinion as to why some players may not try as hard.
Now can you give us facts that it doesn't have an affect on players?

Ronaldo - Paid a hell of a lot when he came over to us, wasnt at all consistant and nothing like he is today when he was 18, didnt make a difference.
DDG - Came over at a very young age, didnt hurt his development and has developed in one of the best keepers in the league.
Rooney - Paid a firtune as an 18 year old. hasnt hurt his development at all.
The list is endless.
Its an absolute nonsenical idea

Look at the amount of young players in world football that egt apid huge money, is it effecting them? Hamepring there development? No.
So this supposed epidemic is only in england? Oh Ok
Nothing to do with the way players are coached in this country, the fact we put no effort into teaching technique and skill and the rest of the world started doing this about 15 years ago.
This is one of the daftest excuses ive ever heard.

Oh these stupid idea's ALWAYS come from lower league clubs, desperate to blame money for the state of football etc.

I don't think that any of young English footballers who went to the world cup did not give their all for the team. Whether they are paid a pittance or vast sums of money should not impact their desire to perform for their national team. Look at Mexico, Algeria and Costa Rica that got the better of their “superior” opponents due to the right tactics and discipline to pull those tactics off! A manager with tactical nous is needed and someone who doesn’t kowtow to English Premier league poster players and the media who pick their favourites.
In England the belief is still give the ball to “poster player X” and he’ll score or do something inventive regardless of the set-up of the rest of the team. I mean how silly does everyone who thinks Argentina are just Messi and some other guys look now after last nights game?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I could not disagree more with that
It wasn't the poster boys that were not playing as a team, it was the younger players desperate to showboat their own talents like Sterling Barkley or Sturridge
How many German's do you see trying to dribble past half the oppositions team or shoot from stupid positions?
That's the problem I have with the young English talent at the moment
Good individially but will they ever learn to play for the team like a Wayne Rooney learnt?
There is simply zero point in dribbling past 6 players and then tripping over the corner flag
There has to be an end product and a reason
Of all the attacking youngsters, I would say Sterling and OX have the most chance but both have to learn team play yet.
Sturridge just plays for Sturridge and can't see it changing with the ego he carries around with him

Any credibility you may have had in this debate went out of the window with your second example.
a totally ludicrous claim, and almost diametrically opposed to the truth

Undeniably English players are overhyped and overpriced. I mean Alexis Sanchez has just been bought by Arsenal for £35m, the same amount it cost for Andy Carroll.
