RVP was on fire in the very first game for holland against Spain and i thought he could be one of the stars of the tournament. However in most of the other games he looked laboured and barely fit. There was talk he had a illness and was carrying an injury.
Doesnt really bode well for the forthcoming season if he cant even pull a string of 5 consecutive fully fit games together. Wouldnt surprise me if we're heading for another frustrating season with injuries. His last at Arsenal and his first at United were amazing but every other season hes been wrecked by injuries.
If LvG makes him captain and builds his team around him, could be a bit of a problem.

He looked good in first game and was ok against Australia.
Did t play due to suspension against chile. Was poor against Mexico and Costa Rica he missed a some sitters which can happen. Last night he was pretty poor but was left completely isolated.
Needs a good rest now. Probably won't play on Saturday. Wouldn't read to much into it

To be honest, if he is out with injury, it solves, or at least ameliorates, the Rooney/RvP/Mata conundrum.

Despite the bias against Rooney on this board, there's not an awful lot of difference between RVP and Rooney for me up top. It's a lot closer than some suggest it is. Both their goal scoring records are very closely matched.
RVP is just a bit more disciplined that Rooney and will stick to his position more. But on the other hand, Rooney will be fit for more of the season most likely.

I think lvg set up more to Robbens strengths (and to cover for weaknesses in other areas) than to RVP which is why he struggled.

Robben is easily the greediest footballer I have ever seen. So so selfish. I'd be infuriated if I played in his team. He hardly ever looks to pass.

RVP just doesn't look 100%
Hopefully he'll be fine for next season
I doubt Van Gaal will see having a fully fit and and on form RVP and Rooney next season as any kind of problem

I noticed this as well, it's like the WC has aged him about 5 years.
Looked a shadow he was at the beginning of the tourno.

I have been beating this drum to the football ignorant among our fan base on here for some time now.
When RVP is not on song he really is anonymous.
When Rooney isn't on song you still get the feeling he can create or make something happen.
That is why I would always pick Rooney ahead of RVP if I had to choose between the two.
