It seems Arsene has given up on the unsuccessful model of "buying young and cheap" for the tried and tested "buying big and expensive" model.
Does this mean that Arsenal fans can no longer accuse City or Chelsea of buying the league?

I would have agreed with your statement if you had said Arsenal were buying their way into the top four.
I think as Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United will show the stakes are being raised again this year for the title and I fully expect all three to spend over £100 million

Im sure mancini knows there's a huge difference btw spending money you earned compared to being funded by a sugar daddy.

Money is money regardless of where it came from.
But you still need to spend big though to push you guys through the finish line.
United are already blowing everyone out with their spending power too.
Meanwhile, we have been shackled with ffp penalty.
The stakes are really being pushed higher this year.

Irrespective of FFP all PL clubs now have to comply with the PL’s spending restraints.
One of the restraints all clubs are now subject to is their year on year wage increase. Currently set at £4m a season.
So assuming a club’s revenue remains fixed, they will be unable to increase player wages by more than £4m a season.
In regard to United they have offloaded a number of big earners (Vidic, Ferdinand etc) and understand will soon announce a new £750m Adidas deal which will undoubtedly assist their ability to add to the squad.

There is no such thing as buying the league. The best performances has still got to be extracted from the players consistently and the squad has still to gel and be managed effectively. People who talk about "buying the league" are either jealous or severely misguided !

Like everyone else, we have been known to spend a bit on a marquee signing. Wiltord and Reyes were club record signings, but the cheaper recruits were still there. Nothing has changed imo. We've managed to pull off Sanchez and we'll still sign 2-3 kids from Lithuania.

Its much to do with our improving financial situation and safety net we have on our debt. Which is great! ..with Sanchez and Ozil..other top class player in squad we will be more attractive to any player now..much stronger also...Also this should only increase our massive fan base world wide. Things should only get better.
Lets hope we win some silverware this season.

So spending £42m on Ozil and £35m on Sanchez does not amount to buying the league just because you "earn" the money.
This is a wonderful ideology and I kind of like it

How can it amount to buying the leaue if we don't win the league?
