Now I was born in 1990, I'm now 24 years old and I've grown up (as of just before 2008) believing Brazil are ALWAYS the international team to fear (and up till now, 2008-2014 one of THE teams to fear always), what the hell has happened to them?
When you consider the hype around them they are nowadays one of the joke teams. A decent/good team, better than lets say the majority but still when you consider the hype it's a bit of a joke.
They have a couple of quality players (Thiago, Oscar, Neymar, much less than previous Brazil teams), but they can't really do everything, I actually feel very very VERY marginally sorry for them..
Is this Brazil team THE worst Brazil team since 1950 or has there been worse?
Worst Brazil team ever?

Football goes in cycles. They're not always going to be great.
We beat Germany 5-1 just over 10 years ago. Now they'd do same to us (and almost did in WC 2010)
Also......Brazil have left 5 or 6 players minimum out of this world cup squad who really should have been there. The two defenders from Atletico for a start. And surely there's a better striker than Fred and Jo that they have snubbed.

Why don't they have Pato?

Fred and Jo had better seasons than Pato and Damiao. Scolari's mistake was not utilising Costa

SE,
We might have beat Germany 5-1 but it was them that found a way to the World Cup final a year later. Cant compare it. No matter how average a German team it was.
They've always outperformed us since 66.
As far as Brazil are concerned it probably is the worst, yet remarkably they're semi-finalists.
The 1990 side was dour & lacked star ability maybe Careca aside but that was almost a transitional team. Some of the remnants of the 'samba' sides & the emergence of the players that would form the 94 team shaped that squad. Poor manager & at that time poor team but this is worse. Just uninspiring with plenty of mediocrity led by a stubborn, tactically inept coach.
Basically dragged to a 'respectable' finish by virtue of hosting the tournament.
Hopefully its a wake up call.

This is definitely the worst Brazil squad I've had the pleasure of witnessing.
No Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Cafu, Emerson, rivaldo etc from 90s-06 id say there are more aswel I'm missing!
Look at them now?
Paulinho? Ramires? Jo???? Would those 3 have even got Brazilian citizenship let alone play in the Brazil team at a World Cup?
No is the answer... And there's more that wouldn't have either!

The 1990 squad was a lot better then this pile of trash.
Careca, Muller, Ria, Tafarel, Aldair, Branco, trounces on the equivalent of today's poor poor Brazil squad.
We should not even nit pick on EVERY BRAZIL SQUAD since 1990 as it will be deeply embarrassing.
This current group are poor on ability and lets face it poor on emotion. Crybabies springs to mind, with NO SUBSTANCES whatsoever.
And that's a FACT so to speak

They are pretty poor. Hosting it, with a free key decisions their way and they end 4th. The thing is, they left out better players than the ones they took. Blame the coach. Think Brazil will step up a bit but they need a modern coach. Not a has been in big Phil and they may have to take a bitter pill and lose their samba style (which they lost already but this run week have covered it up). They need defenders who can defend. Cafu was a great RB as in he could attack and defend. Not like the chutney lot who are a poor version of Roberto Carlos.

Roberto Carlos. I haven't heard that name mentioned at all this World Cup, maybe not the best defender but for entertainment he was 10/10. David Luiz seems to have based his entire game on him and come up short in every department,
