inactivity for a tad too long??

Maybe I'm just being skeptical about this as obviously we are used to seeing us bid for someone at some point in most summer transfer markets barring last season however getting a bit worried that we do t seem to have really tried with anyone that you would think yeah actually he'd be quite a good fit... another central mid striker and left back would be nice to see ... even if it was just the one that wasn't free?!

Not worried. We all know how nige conducts his business and I'm sure come the Everton game there will be 2 or 3 new signings

It's the World Cup that's slowed it up a weeks time and things will start moving.

Even though weight not be targeting players that have been away on duty it will slow things down. Clubs assessing which players they want/can keep for next season.

Pearson said he has already tried and failed to sign players that "would surprise a few people" so I'm not concerned at all about the names being mentioned because there all agent noises so I would imagine pretty much every name we've heard is inaccurate!

Apart from Ulloa who I do think would be good for us, from what I've seen and his goal record but I've not seen much.

Looks like you can relax-Ulloa incoming £7m

I seem to recall that this time last year more than a few people were worried at the lack of activity in the transfer market....and look how that turned out.

Heard a piece on Bamford at Chelsea on the radio the other evening.

He scored a cracker in a pre-season friendly against Wycombe and the guy was saying that it might be too soon for him to break into Chelsea's first eleven so they might send him out on loan again (he's already been out to MK Dons and Derby and done very well) but Chelsea are looking for him to step up now and might send him out on loan to a Premier League club, so he could be worth a punt on a season long loan...

Interesting idea, Fox_14, and I wouldn't be averse to it; however I remember Derby fans complaining about his lack of work rate and inability to influence the game. It sounded a bit like how some of our fans reacted to Yakubu: "He only scores goals? What's the point in that!?"

However, this trait in his game means that he's unlikely to be a Pearson type of player so I wouldn't expect him to turn up on our shores.

Dung, I was just talking to the Derby fan who sits next to me at work and he was raving about him. Said he scored some absolute beauties for them last season (which I recall seeing on the FL show) but said the only downside is that he's a bit too lightweight and gets bullied off the ball a little too easily.

Maybe Vardy could be his role model there and help him bulk up a bit if he did come on loan?

I'm not sure that Vardy would be the best example of "bulking up a bit".

He did bang in the goals when he first arrived at Derby, although toward the end I recall he'd gone off the boil and been dropped. Certainly I remember some Derby fans on here complaining about him, although perhaps he had just set very high standards for himself.

One for the maybe pile although, as I say, I'd like to see whether he'd pass the Pearson test.
