That's odd considering the Germans don't really have the best full backs. He will be hard to replace and easily had another tournament in him.

Eric Durm and Sebastian Jng will become top fullbacks. Not as good as Lahm but good enough

Retiring earlier helps your club career, and he's giving youngsters a chance. Perhaps someone like Gerrard should do similar.
