Dangerous game

Playing this waiting game with the Lukaku transfer, seems a bit dangerous to me.
We obviously need additions to the strike force and it is undoubtedly the most important area to get right this summer, as it really could be the difference between pushing on and really challenging the top four positions or having an average season.
I understand why Martinez wants Lukaku, after having a good (not great) season with us last year and he fits the system well. But with talk now that Chelsea, want to take a good look at him (surely they know him well enough by now) on their pre-season tour, it's looking like weeks before this is resolved, last minute.com.
My fear is that if it doesn't happen then we're desparately short up front and we could have missed out on other targets.
Robby gambled last August and we had a great last day of the window, getting in Lukaku, Barry and McCarthy so it paid off.
Possibly, another busy last day/night again, but not ideal as would have been good to get the players in for a full pre-season with the rest of the squad.
I'M still hoping he's got a couple of Gem's up his sleeve, that we haven't heard about yet.

Didn't we draw the first three games of last season? They may have been wins if we had done our business earlier.

We should of won those games regardless of our business we dominated all 3. I reckon we'll sign someone like Hernandez/Traore on loan and then wait for Lukaku.

I like Martinez but without the financial clout of some of the other Clubs (our neighbours!!!!) and without full control which I doubt he has, then it is a dangerous game indeed.

Isn't Lukaku on holiday and won't look at his future until he returns?

I keep hearing people mention hernandez's name. I think he is a decent footballer but most of our play last year was with a focal point stricker. I think he needs a man to play off. Suppose it would give more options to the squad.

Never really thought about Hernandez as an option. He had gone off the boil at United after being unable to miss the target.

If he can score goals then I am sure Bobby would fit him in. However with Ba, Lukaku and Traore all looked at it seems he does want a hold up type

Bill & Co. are still looking under their sofas and seats at Goodison to see if there are any more pennies to be found.

Seriously though, just because Lukaku is on his hols doesn't stop us from putting in a bid - if said bid was accepted then personal talks can take place on his return.

I'm not getting too concerned, yet....! as there is still 4 wks or so until kick off, however I want us to be active within the next two weeks so any new players can start to settle in.

Re: the other Belgian, hopefully one for the future

Re: Hernandez, nah, he's more of an impact player. When he plays a full 90 he just doesn't seem to be the same player, that said, I can only go on what I've seen of him, Man Utd fans will know a lot more. If any come across this article, maybe they can comment?
