the only player that ever passed with purpose has just retired mate. Gets stick for his Hollywood passes but over the last 4-6 years its practically the only threat England possessed.

What has that got to do with Rooney? Or the fact that Barkley, Sterling and even moreso, Surridge, being greedy bstards?

Reckon Michael Carrick should be new england skipper and good old Harry Redknapp to manage england in euro 2016.

I saw a poll online somewhere, I was surprised and pleased how far ahead Cahill is as the favourite by fans at 42%, Rooney and Hart were 19% and 18% I think. No idea how big the field of data was.

Cahill has the best attributes to be a captain by far for me.

Yeah, no doubt there are a few who can’t look beyond club rivalry at international level but let’s face it, Rooney isn’t an England captain, even at United he’d only ever get the armband but default. Rooney is the worst choice of the three.

And to be honest that is probably counteracted by United huge global fan base and kids who just automatically go with Rooney as he’s the biggest poster boy of the three.
