Wow, Madrid have sold 345,000 in two days since he was unveiled according to The Telegraph. I reckon there are quite a few PL clubs that don't get anywhere near that as a club. Put together.
Don't know our individual numbers but I'd be surprised if anyone got into 6 figures.

Expert??? Who said i am an expert??
I am far from an expert. No i don't know what percentage if any a club gets.
My comment was in response to redinthehead initial comment which suggests Madrid get all the money from the shirt sales.
It appears you don't seem to grasp this either.
So why an earth do Adidas and Nike shell out all this money then? Is it for the privilege to have their name on the shirts? What is it?

Redinthedead's initial comment could suggest that Madrid get a cut of the shirt sales. I don't know. Instead of calling him a think cnt, why not just ask him instead of presuming what he meant.
I mean, all I've done is ask you a few simple and very obvious questions, which you don't know the answer to. A couple of posts from me has resulted in you saying that you're no expert and that you don't even know whether a club gets a percentage or not of shirt sales. More than that, you've also admitted that, if clubs do get a percentage of shirt sales over and above the amount of the sponsorship figure, how much that percentage is.
Your reply to red was: "You really don't know how it works do you?"
It's now clear that you don't either.

I can't answer your question because I don't know the answer. I said in my first post on this thread that I don't know how it works.
If you do know, then tell me. You say they (the kit sponsors) get a vast majority of the merchandise, shirt sales, etc. What are you referring to when you say "etc"? What percentage is this "vast majority" exactly? Does it vary depending on where the shirt was purchased?
How much did Madrid receive from the 345k shirt sales? What is this figure? If we know what it is, then maybe we can say just how much the figure has (already) offset a percentage of the transfer fee.

It is interesting. I guess the details are in commercial confidence so we'll never know.
I sort of assumed that the club got what the manufacturer paid for the deal and that was that. Then when a shirt is sold a percentage goes to the retailer - whether its MUFC, or Sports Direct - the rest to the wholesaler/manufacturer. If the player gets anything then isn't it through direct endorsement deals?
Or to put it differently - suppose Addidas don't recoup £75m a year in sales of United shirts, do the club pay them back? A lot of analysts do think Addidas overpaid and that they may lose money on the deal. Nike certainly didn't think it was good value at that price.

I'm guessing (because, unlike Python, I'm not 100% correct) that Adidas expect sales of merchandise to increase as they expect to make £750M profit over 10 years.
Maybe Nike were worried that United might be out of the CL for a few years and they've now got City making strides forwards. Maybe they will put all their backing behind the current successful Manchester club and try and drive their income upwards as they have a cheap deal with us. I can certainly see the merchandise costing more in the club shop these days.
I'd expect United to have a deal whereby they get a % of the take if it goes over a certain level. I'd be astonished if they didn't have such a deal in place.
