Is beautiful football still the way to go?

Arsenal has made huge signings in the past two seasons summer transfer window, with the most prominent being Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. With the financial capability that Arsenal have at the moment, we are able to compete amongst the very best in the world. This is almost no excuse any longer for us to fail any more. We have to start bringing trophies into the Emirates stadium’s trophy cabinet. Since we are extremely pressured to succeed, should success be the only thing in the mind of Arsenal now? Should we go about doing it in such a manner where we only look to win instead of truly displaying the beauty of football?

This is an extremely sensitive issue to discuss. Many have often said that when Arsenal win, football wins. This is so as Arsenal plays football the way it should be played. Simple yet beautiful football. Goals like the one Wilshere scored against Norwich and Rosicky against Sunderland exemplifies this very thoroughly.

However, this has often caused us to try and over complicate matters. Many times, Arsenal are caught passing the ball too often without really testing the opposition keeper. Also, our style of play has often left us to be exposed to teams that counter attack really quickly.

If we choose to play the more conservative style of football the way Chelsea does- where they score a goal and defend the rest of the way, it may bring us success. With this style, Mourinho has won the Champions league with Inter Milan and the premier league twice with Chelsea.

Nevertheless, this is not the approach that Arsenal would want to take. We have built our team to play football the way it should be played. The players we have are all technical magicians that can conjure magic out of nowhere. Thus, I feel success should never come at the expense of our footballing style?

Defending well is the first step and will always be

This appears to be alien to AW hence many of the 'drubbings' that AFC suffered last season.

It's when wenger allowed the legacy of Graham's defensive unit to age and not be replaced properly that things started to slide
Possibly the most overrated manager there's ever been

But the Invincibles had a defence completely built by Wenger and the team went unbeaten.

Paulpowers - Cole, Campbell, Laurent, Clicy and last but most definitely not least - how could you forget Igor Stepanovs, my namesake. Okay, okay, so I spelt it wrong...

Didn't a couple of Pires dives save the 'invinceableness' of that run?

He's shown that he can 'tweak' a team just as he did at Monaco and for several seasons at AFC but 'his own team' really 'aint that great unless you count Top4 as an achievement?
I'm gonna get so much s--t for this but hey, Arsene could learn a trick or two from Pulis. Defend WELL as a unit then break quickly as and when the opportunity allows.
Our biggest defeat last season was 1-4 to Fulham when Ollie was in charge (top man for holding his hands up and leaving ).
What was AFC's biggest defeat with a squad full of star players? That tells me all I need to know about AW and his choice of players as well as the tactics he employs.
I feel sorry for the fans, truly.

I think hadn't built the new stadium they would have a lot more trophies (possibly titles) to be fair.
