Looks like it's on according to Ben Smith of the BBC

Obviously he's been making noises since they turned down £20m before. Not nice to see to be honest but we haven't done much wrong just unfortunate circumstances for Southampton but to be honest they're getting a good price in my view. I would have preferred to take a bit of a gamble and get a cheaper player even if it meant less Premier League experience but I'm not unhappy.
Lovren

Skrtel was playing in a better team last season, so his stats are obviously going to be effected by that.
Lovren is four years younger, just as experienced, and most importantly is a leader at the back, which we need!

well they conceded less goals so you'd expect different as they both play CB.

Glad Brendan has identified where we need strengthening and hope he's chosen wisely. If so, I'm Lovren It.

What is it about Ben Smith from BBC. I've been told he is worthy but I haven't actually been informed as to why he has this reputation

Ben Smith is a Liverpool fan no? He's often on press box on LFC TV.

Usually the BBC reporters only report transfers when they have been confirmed rather than collect gossip hence Ben Smith's decent reputation. To be honest all the main journalists who cover Liverpool are usually reliable - James Pearce, Tony Barrett and so on. It helps these two are based in Merseyside as well.
As for Lovren it is clearly an area we need strengthening especially as the Agger-Skrtel partnership is one I am not sold on. Can see Sakho and Lovren being first choice although last season showed how a partnership of centre backs who understand each other is far better than simply playing the best two best individual centre halves.

Liverpool lack a defensive leader....we have just signed one. Most important signing this season

not really excited bout the signing and we paided a bit too much, but i will reserve my judgement. One of agger or skrtel has to go and i hope its skrtel. A few others have to leave as well we are overpacked in central defence.
