A very good finisher there's no doubt about it but I think the time has come where we accept that it hasn't worked out here for him. I love his personality and he's great for the dressing room and of course our growing German contingent but I feel the cons outweigh the pros of keeping him.
Pros
Dressing room humour
Good finisher
A friend for Mesut
Cons
Injury Prone
A squad player on 100k-a-week
Hasn't proven himself as a loan CF
Better suited left wingers than him (Sanchez, Ox, Campbell)
Can't adapt to our style of play
Getting slower and slower
There you have it but that's my opinion. I think if we could sell him we could actually fund money for a forward that we might need even if it's not a world class one at least a good alternative one (Douglas Costa?).
I know we could get more for Campbell at this moment in time but why give away someone with great potential that has more of what we need (pace and skill). He also scores some terrific goals so in time could prove to be just as adept a finisher, he's hungry and wants to shine for us and I reckon would be better up top than Poldi too even in the loan role as shown in the WC.
Surely Poldi could fetch us £10m.
Some might not like this because he's grown into a fans favourite but rather than throwing abuse at this (DJ!) I'd like to hear your counter arguments on why he's worth keeping if you disagree with me, maybe by adding more pros or whatever.
If we don't intend to bring in any more attacker whatsoever then I guess he's worth keeping
Should We Cash In On Podolski?

These D. Costa rumours aren't going away, good player no doubt but do we need him? I would much rather keep Pod/Santi, one will be off if he arrives

so it was the refs mistake for sanogo possibly costing us the corner ever happening
It's not as I claim it's what happened

So you're agreeing that Sanogo did more than Poldi in the cup final?!?

Reasons to keep Podolski
Lost Sagna & Strong possibility of Vermaelen going too - that's a lot of experience to lose and Podolski is an experienced international. We're trying to build a squad and leave the days of losing players behind.
Popular in the dressing room - that's not to be underestimated. Good spirit will see the club through some tough times.
We probably wouldn't get a major fee for him - why sell if it doesn't really benefit us.
Most importantly - 28 Goals in 69 games from the left wing in his 2 seasons with us.
To contrast we just spent quite a bit on Sanchez who has a record of 33 goals in 100 games from the wing for Barca in the last 2 seasons.
Simply put, why get rid of an atacker who scores a lot of goals?

find somewhere I said that wasn't the case?
This started with me disagreeing with
"Sanogo coming on in the final and changing the game for us nearly sums it up."

Agree with the OP. Goes missing in games; questionable conditioning and getting substituted in too many games; bad injury record.
Sell and give a run to Gnabry . Add some money to the proceed of sale and get Bony.

The club have enough resource to buy Bony 3 or 4 times over. Not that they would purchase Bony but there is no need to sell any player at present.

How about the 25 players rule ?
Also Bony is good enough to get in front of Giroud as our main striker. The only downside is the nuisance ACON.

To get a bigger goal threat who can score more, preferably from the CF position
You make a good point though
