Its Funny,
I see so much pessimism on here, more so than the real world some people seem so angry with the club, I just don't understand.
I think there is more reasons to be optimistic and happy about the club and our up coming season and virtually no reason to be angry. Ill break it down simply.
Last year we had 3 underperforming strikers, this Year we have costa in 2 friendlies he has shown more than any of last years trio in terms of what he can bring to the team.
Along with the acquisitions of Fabregas and Luis, we have filled 3 key areas with absolute undoubted quality and chopped out the liability of luiz.
These areas are where we fell down particularly in the middle of the park. Lets not forget also that Matic only had half a season. Paring him with Fabregas from the start is genius by the club.
Now lukaku, I swear some people are blinded in this subject.
There are numerous actual quotes from both parties to suggest that he did not have the right attitude to want to play, He chose to go on loan rather than fight for his place, if he had stayed he would have got a chance, there is no doubt but he didn't.
José is the manager of the club and sees him every day, he listens to various comments Lukaku makes and had no choice but to sell him. Lukaku wanted to be top dog without fighting for it that's impossible for a young player to do.
Lets also not forget that NO top club were in for him, not one just because he scroed a few goals at Everton and WBA doesn't make him a world beater. He never even had any impact on us, barely played and we got £28m for him.
Darren Bent scored a hatful for various mid table clubs, were we all clamouring for his signature, .....I doubt it.
Torres is here for another season yes its frustrating but I always give him a clean slate at the beginning of each season because you just never never know.
this is not football manager, there is no way we can go out and spend big on backup players and expect them to remain happy, doing this would effect squad balance and harmony as it stands we have filled areas where there are gaps and now everyone is in there fighting for a place. In fact I think we are over staffed in midfield and there will be some fringe players leaving.
Life is good we got Jose, hes building his team, next season we WILL win the prem by 10 - 12 points you can bookmark this.
Torres will score 10 leage goals and Costa will get 15 - 20 I guarantee this.
Be happy and keep the blue flag flying high

I'm talking in terms of our striking options. Clubs always have the final say in these matters. Didn't Suarez want to leave Liverpool last season? Well they didn't allow him to and he almost ended up propelling them to the title.
Also, I would put more trust in Lukaku than Torres and for good reason. What has Torres done over the past two seasons to suggest he can outscore Lukaku this coming season?

Wow, someone thinks we’ve gone back 2 or 3 steps?! For all our talent last year we lacks two key areas, deep tempo and passing and a goal scorer / box presence, we’ve addressed both, the team is complete and we’ll now not just see the benefits of adding two quality players but the entire balance of the team. We’ve also added a left footed left back which gives us more attacking impetus and width.

We have time and the funds to buy another striker. I believe we will, even though we are slightly better off than last season, we can possibly be a lot better of than last season if we buy another striker.

We have the funds but the question is will Jose actually want to? If we buy another striker we'll have four which is certainly excessive for the one-striker system we use most frequently. Add that to the fact any striker we get in will have to be good enough for a 2nd choice striker otherwise it's a waste of time. Then we'd end up having Drogba as a 4th choice (on 50/60k a week) which begs the question what was the real reason behind bringing him back?

Three strikers is the right number for the system we play, the trouble is on is the shadow of the player he was and the other is 36. Mourinho clearly feels Drogba still has something to offer but he is clearly a short term move, we won’t sing another top striker till Torres leaves, that is the sad fact so get used to it. We have to hope Costa can stay fit before we bring in proper re-enforcements next summer.
As much as I want Torres gone and will not be fooled in to thinking he’s back I think he will marginally improve on last year, we just need to see this season through without a major problem to Costa, I think we’ll be alright and a full compliment of strikers will be a relief next year.

Wont Drogs also be off to ACoN. If he's picked.

Yeah nice positive article.
Not sure we will win the title and not sure Torres will score 10 PL goals but there are plenty of reasons to be positive
