The match between Leeds and Glenavon was preceded by a parade from a local pipe band and they contributed to a good nights entertainment.
The team warmed up in front of a packed Leeds support who were a credit to the club with loud renditions of Marching on together.
I saw Hockaday calling the players to the changing rooms and noted their promptness of jumping to his summons. Seems he has their respect.
The match kicked off and Leeds commanded the initial exchanges. Smith was found wanting when perfectly placed by heading straight at their keeper. This set the tone for his performance which was underwhelming despite him trying hard.
Chris Dawson got the headlines with his hatrick, but it was Poleon who caught the eye with his speed and agility. He made some lung bursting runs from our box to the other box switching play from defence to attack. On several occasions he weaved his way round three players to create chances in the box.
Mowatt looked good as did some others who I didnt recognise.
Paddy Kenny despite shedding some weight is still carrying a spare tyre commanded his area well.
Skelton played well also.
Healey came on for a cameo appearance to a standing ovation from the Leeds fans who packed most of the stadium.
Flags could be seen draped over the railings from London Whites and Essex Whites.
The players seem much fitter than last year, credit to the manager.
As the game progressed and the temperature dropped, the Leeds performance warmed us up and they relentlessly notched up the goals in a one sided affair.
Difficult to get an fair idea of where we are as a team when the opposition are part timers. However Leeds do have reasons to be optimistic.

Thanks for report, but I don't think Hockaday was there, it was Redfearn and Lewis.
