Ladies and gentlepeople’s hello and welcome to the mid-season review, proudly brought to you by me! Ha! It has been an interesting season and the new rules have thrown in a few surprises.
We have seen some amazing racing (Bahrain, Barcelona, Hungary, and Canada), some crushingly dominant racing (Malaysia and China). We have seen the birth of a new star (Ricciardo), the resurgence of a former power (Williams) and the continued disappointment at power houses (Ferrari and McLaren) and have seen Marussia score points with another talent for the future Jules Bianchi.
We have seen the rookies’ show some great stuff, make some mistakes but ultimately show there is a bright future ahead for the sport. On the negative side, we have seen some dodgy antics (Nico at Monaco ), Mercedes at Hungary , Crashtor and Crashteban and unsurprisingly, to those who know a lot about Formula 1 we have seen the Vettel myth busted. We did not even need to get Jamie and Adam involved from the hit show “Myth Busters."
So midway through the season, the top 5 looks like this;
1. Rosberg – 202
2. Hamilton – 191
3. Ricciardo – 131
4. Alonso – 115
5. Bottas – 95
The Mercedes power unit has been dominant but unreliability has plagued the team costing them points in races and costing Hamilton quali positions but he is still in the mix. Nico has driven superbly this season and been very consistent and is leading the championship. To make things fair, Nico needs 1 more DNF and 1 quali session where his engine is on fire and one where his brakes fail (before Martial and Hobo start crying, this is a joke).
The Renault power unit has not delivered which is most amusing as they pushed for these changes. Whilst other drivers have got on with it and won races in spite of these issues Vettel has been vociferous in his criticism prompting a public scolding from Helmut Marko of our “champion".
There have been conspiracy theories which are BS in my humble opinion and of course there are a few rumours flying around like Seb wanting to join Ferrari who look no longer interested in him. Alonso going back to McLaren at the expense of JB and Lotus getting Mercedes engines next year. Who knows?
I’ll miss F1 but cannot wait for the race at Spa. I anticipate the field may be shaken up again as teams will look to bring massive upgrades and with the weather there being dodgy at times; could we see a new winner? Valteri Bottas, perhaps?
So lads and ladettes, I have the following questions for you and would like your views on the season so far?
• Team of the season so far besides Mercedes?
• Driver of the season so far?
• Best race of the season?
• Most controversial moment of the season?
• Brain fade moment of the season?
• Best strategy call of the season?
• Hottest WAG of the season?
• Who do you think will be world champion?
Your comments, please!!

in all seriousness manx have you honestly been unaware of hamiltons hero worship of senna these last 8 yrs
---- thought everybody this side of an botswana bush warrior was aware of it -

So he tries to emulate Senna's approach to racing. Interesting, not sure how that amounts to worship

reading the various links and what have you over the years it comes across as little bit more than that , not to mention he obviously chose to copy senna"s helmet during his yrs before his current team --
--------- not that there is anything wrong with trying to be like senna even if hamilton is as similar to senna as i am to daffy duck --
just rattling your cage a little manx as you chose to bring up senna / vettel / webber a few nights ago -
------- so i thought i would add to the sillyness

I think that MA's link to an interview in 2008
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7686562.stm
should be welcomed.
The interview reveals that Lewis Hamilton has the same admiration for Ayrton Senna as MA himself. Reading the narrative of the text it is no different from what MA has actually posted himself.
MA has described his own views of Ayrton Senna as “worship”. Therefore, why is it such a big deal if MA points that out to us that Lewis Hamilton agrees with MA?

good evening wt
yeh i suppose everybody that has ever used a F1 forum has a driver they respect more than the next driver -
--------- think i will stop short in having a pseudonym of whatever particular driver for a username on whatever forum , that probably is taking it a little to far

I agree.
It is almost on the same level has having a user name based on some obscure marginal sport like “modern pentathlon (U9033)” or “wrestling (U9033)”.
I am sure that you agree with that.

yeh i suppose we could all be a little more original in our usernames on here , in my case i very lazily just named myself after one of my lifelong hobbies because i could not be bothered to think of anything sufficiently humorous or original at the time -
must admit i was proud of " xiggly " thought that had a certain ring of originality about it -
------ i have a funny feeling that " xiggly " is one name that will never be forgotten when people think back to the good old days of the bbc 606 F1 forum --
