Where did the beef emanate from because we are not really traditional rivals? Now Wenger has to sit at press conferences and respond to barbs from Gerrard. And you just know this is just the beginning. With ex liverpool players in the majority of broadcasters, every single comment will be reported by the press and blown out of proportion and players and managers alike will have to respond time and time again.
Even if you go back to the events of 1989 things were never this spiteful or petty. Its all really odd because when FSG took over at anfield John Henry praised Wenger and said that was the model he would like to follow in the running of Liverpool. 2 years later a 40m + 1 pound bid and John Henry took to twitter like a child.
The Sanchez deal hasn't helped things at all and this rivalry seems to take a different form everyday.Personally I quite like Liverpool, a likeable club if ever there was anything as such, I hate their fans, especially the ones here. They all have this victim mentality and for some reason we must treat them like royalty just because they dominated football in the 80s.
At the beginning of last season if you asked me to nominate a team I would rather have win the league instead of Arsenal it would have been liverpool up until their fans so it fit not to only enjoy their marvelous run but get stuck into our fans and start with the name calling.
I should be annoyed with clubs like Chelsea,United and City but I find myself wondering how much the spitefulness between the 2 clubs will grow this season.

As an arsenal fan i just hope your young defenders are all at sea each time we play united and gift us easy goals.
Like I said in another post, the wing back will have a difficult season. Shaw will have to eat that 130k

Even if that happens your defenders will do the same when they come to Old Trafford and gift us even more goals.
Could be a big game that, in all seriousness. Second to last game of the season I think. It's difficult to predict just where United and Arsenal will be in the league at the point. But I have a feeling it will have a big impact on the season.

Hull used them regularly last season.
Of course because LVG does it the media will
claim it's some new genius invention.

"How often did you play that system, though? "
it's semantics
IMO we used wingbacks 38 matches last season
we used 3-5-2 maybe 6-7 times
The only real difference was that in 3-5-2 we used 3 recognised centrebacks, in all the other matches Gerrard dropped between the 2 centrebacks to create the '3'
either way the fullbacks/wingbacks were 70% attacking 30% defending

TKT, well yes then it's simply a case of semantics. I wouldn't call them wing backs, I'd call them attacking full backs because their roles are very different to that of a wing back in a 352.
righteous, the focus on United and Hull are very different, so that wouldn't surprise me.

Have they made a comeback, though? We are the only side in the league likely to use them. And then it will likely only be for a season until LVG can sort the squad out so he can play 433.
Even Juve are looking to move away from 352 because it's been exposed in Europe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Incorrect about Juve. They only moved away from that because their new manager Allegri does not fancy it.
They have been exposed in Europe but not because of their formation.
Conte only left because the board refused to back him with money, being the tight fists that they are.
There will be other teams than Juve employing this formation this season in Italy, namely Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter and Torino.

Conte was going to change to 433 as well.
Yeah I'm aware that there are a few average teams in Italy that use it. But it's not that common and isn't common among Europe's elite.

Also I would hardly say Liverpool used wingbacks for 38 of the games considering Flanagan played as LB., definitely not as a wingback.

I wouldn't judge a fanbase by the users on here, things haven't gotten pettier each season that's gone by it's so difficult to have a proper football discussion with rival fans now.
As for a Liverpool/Arsenal rivalry it's pretty much blown out of proportion. We're not geographical rivals and we haven't competed at the same level for years now. 5 points last season is the closest points difference we had for years.
As for the Gerrard situation while I think he had a point that Suarez could do better if he stuck around (no offence but he did) but whether he needed to say it publically is debatable. Perhaps mind games already?

This a a very good statement.

Got any proof for Contes intentions. He is not the manager anymore so we don't know.
This does not mean it is a poor tactical setup.
You say that unless it's common or the elite employs it, it's flawed and not worth trying. These two premises donot prove it in the slightest. It can work. It is merely a matter of preference.
