Preseason is a very important for getting conditioning and understanding between the new players. Clubs plan these things with tremendous thought and effort with different regimes set up for different players at different times. All the more important in a WC year with players returning at different intervals.

I think the club therefore deserves tremendous credit for making a late change to take part in a charity match for the families of the 301 miners killed in Turkey in May. There is no doubt that this will disrupt the careful planning with extra traveling taking away from training time etc.

Well done to whoever made this decision.
