Alexis Sanchez

What's the general consensus on Alexis playing as a number 9 for us this season?

For me he looks a bit too lightweight for the lone striker role, his best position would be on the flanks or as a second striker in a 442. The only scenario where I see Alexis being effective in a no.9 role is against teams that play a very highline.

Oh much much better thank you. Glad I could clear things up to avoid any further confusion.

Not sure I am convinced by your answer, but it was a decent attempt

Your posts seem to be growing more cryptic the longer this thread goes on.

I was merely highlighting the inaccuracy in your post, and was glad I could clear things up for you.

You have not cleared anything up my good man

Care to elaborate as I note you have declined so far to do so? Your comments in regard to Arshavin were regretfully inaccurate.

For reference:

“had a bright start but you did not use him well, he eventually looked uninterested and left”

That's how it looked to me, not sure I agree with the assessment he played in his preferred position as he didn't

Despite Arshavin never complaining, he largely played out wide for Arsenal. He just didn’t have the fitness or physicality to play in a central position (as he did for Russia) and was often moved out wide (even when started centrally) as he proved to be wholly ineffective through the middle.

In his final season his stats (and performances) were some of the worst I have seen for an Arsenal player, notwithstanding the club obliging him as much as possible (was played centrally, up top, false nine, wide with no success).

Arshavin did not have a single shot at goal, assist or any meaningful contribution throughout his entire final season. Arsenal are not a charity and he was moved on.

A slightly more accurate version of events when compared to your post.

Cannot argue with that, curses!

The problem is Giroud. Simple as that, he have all these pacy creative players like Ox, Ozil, Alexis, Walcott, Campbell then you have a French carthorse who nullifies all their threats. That's why we always look a far better attacking team when Sanogo starts, despite him being utter cack.

Did you see AW’s comments in relation to Giroud after the game?

Mentioned fitness/fatigue due to WC exertions, and would not be available for Comm Shield next week. Dubuchy, Campbell (amongst others) had more game time at the WC, and it’s strange that Giroud is now considered to be so unfit.
