Having seen every game we have played so far, here is my take on proceedings:
1. Lonergan is a very good goalkeeper at this level. I believe he could make the step up once we gets used to the big expectations week in week out. He looks strong, agile and seems to have the defender's confidence. Although Paddy may have had too much confidence in him to keep out his class finish out?!!
2. Aidy White has met the expectations and should continue to become a very steady full-back. His pace and overlaps are strong attributes that we haven't had down the left flank for a long time.
3. Tom Lees is a star in the making. He is still adjusting to the full back role but his ability is starting to show. Another good cross leading up to the equaliser.
4. Paddy and O'Dea are forming a good partnership. Bromby is close on their heels in case of any mistakes creeping in.
5. Clayton - well what can we say about him!!! Already becoming a cult hero. He has everything in his locker and today looked equal to if not better than Parker, Nolan and co. Howson and Clayton are a good dynamic midfield partnership.
6. Keogh is settling in nicely. He has a good engine, does a lot of the ugly work and is forming a good partnership with Ross. Would like to see his move made permanent should his form continue. McCormack is starting to prove his doubters wrong. He may miss the odd chance but for me he is looking like a 20 goal striker.
7. Snoddy is getting some form back. He rarely gives the ball away and brings others in to play nicely. I do feel he should share the corner taking duty and only go with the in-swingers. We look far more menacing when in-swinging. They are always the harded version of a cross to defend from set-plays.
8. Gradel showed why he is sought after. He and White have pace to burn down the left hand side. Shame about the penalty miss. Personally I'd have asked someone else to take it given the stories around West Ham's interest but credit to him for having the guts to take it.
9. Becchio is missed but will also have a fight on his hand to get back in the starting line-up. Not a bad problem to have at all. More of that needed.
10. SG has gone up in my estimation. He has played the 4-4-2 yet again today and this is now a system that works well with our crop of players. Whether or not he dropped Brown today, he still made a good decision with his starting line-up. Nunez can feel unlucky not to have started however I reckon he will get his fair share of starts over the season. He does make an impact as a sub so that can sometimes play on the manager's mind. Look at Somma last season.
11. Hopefully SG can now go to Bates and request the funds for two more quality additions. Lichaj would also be nice on a season long loan. The early league table and form shows that Grayson has a strong enough business case (Bates will like that phrase!) to be allowed to sign further quality enforcements to push us on.
12. Last but not least, we will compete this season.
MOT!!!

Perhaps those of us that have been saying 'Squad's coming together nicely' might have been right all along.
Eh?

The problem with signing Keogh is that once Somma and Becchio are back he'll drop right down the pecking order. Bates won't pay for a player that he knows doesn't have a future high up the order and quite rightly too.

Very glad we are now playing 442, but to be fair to Grayson 451 worked well last season WITH Becchio. However without Becchio the team has looked pretty clueless in that formation. Remember after McCormack's impressive finish (the only consolation in the depressing meaningless games) we were looking forward to seeing Ross and Becchio in a 442 but the injury certainly set our start off poorly.
