I'm not really sure there is that much news but I might as well do a wee round up of things that I can remember....
We played our final friendly at the weekend, losing 2-0 to Leeds United at Elland Road. By all accounts we were pretty poor but I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it. We conceded a very early and very late goal which suggests maybe concentration wasn't the best. I believe over 1k Arabs made the trek down to Yorkshire which is pretty impressive really.
Of more concern is the injury inflicted on Sean Dillon, with the defender out for 6 weeks with a fractured cheekbone. Although not a starter these days, he is good back up and it's a blow considering we have a bit of a full back crisis. The new lad from Hull is in at leftback but we're still without Watson and Wilson, with Souttar also still injured. We're looking a bit light defensively.
I'm not sure what's happened to Butcher but he's going to have to step in as cover if something were to happen to the new look central defensive pairing of Morris and Fojut, while I would expect to see Spittal playing full back at the weekend. Although Paton can do a job in there, I'd expect us to start with Paton and Ranks in the midfield at Pitoddrie, although if it had been a home game against less challenging opponents perhaps Armstrong could have dropped in to let Paton play RB.
I don't think the new keeper was involved on Saturday, which wasn't a huge surprise. I hadn't actually realised we'd paid a fee for the boy which is all very exciting, even if it is only £40k. It'll be interesting to see what we do with him - I'd guess that since he's only just signed he'll be back up but will get used in the cup games and given an opportunity from there.
Umm...There was the open day on Sunday. I didn't go because I don't have any kids and I assume it's for kids. About 2500 people attended.
Erm....Ciftci got done for speeding. He was doing 97 in a 70 and got points and a fine.
Finally, I'm not going to Pitoddrie as I'm skint having just paid for a holiday to Marmaris next month.
It does however mean I'm going to miss the Hamilton game at Tannadice.
Or should that be a since Hamilton are generally horrible to watch?

Things are a bit quiet just waiting for the season to kick off. Spoke to a mate who was at the Leeds match and he said we were pants, wait and see how it pans out when the competitive stuff starts though. I'm trying to be "glass half full" about it just now...!

Border
It's hard to anticipate how the season is going to go.
I'm just hoping the likes of Spittal and Telfer do well. Although we've lost Andy I'm more happy with the defence as the two new cbs look good.
Tough first 3 games though.

Random game to play.

Thought Townsend looked quite good against Leeds, was one of the few positives. Quite worried about our striking options though. Çiftçi looked as if he couldn't give a damn, Graham did nothing and Bilate looked off the pace. 4-6-0 for Aberdeen? Or maybe 3-7-0 with our lack of right-back...

First three are tough but after that... Funny old league this season without either of the Edinburgh teams. Çiftçi always blows hot and cold, would rather he was cold in friendlies.
