Does FFP work?

How does it make things fairer? Not happy at being shafted by the football league's senseless rules

They sell darlow, lascelles and Lansbury?

The idea behind it is sound but due to parachute payments being included (and so high) we could be looking at the next few years watching the relegated clubs bounce back and forth.

For anyone interested the bbc did an article on it (it centres around QPR but explains a fair bit too.)

When Bolton got relegated the figures were

2 years at £16m
2 Years at £8m

Although some clubs may find this unfair without these payments we would no doubt have gone into administration.

This is because clubs that get promoted have to give players premier league wages and buy players for top dollar

When you try to put a clause in the players contract that their wage will drop if you are relegated then they don't sign.

If you don't sign the players then more than likely you get relegated and start all over again.

Although to a much lesser degree don't you think that clubs that go down from this division have the same issues and there is nothing to support that.

I can understand that parachute payments are supposed to protect against clubs getting into trouble after falling off the EPL gravy train. But others, use it to get a leg up on the rest of the Championship, either by selling off a number of high earners or chancing it.

With FFP coming in, it's gives these clubs a much bigger power over the rest of the Championship with those not covered by parachute payments unable to compete with wages, fees etc (even moreso than already).

But it doesn't just stop there either, just think how the likes of Liverpool and ManUtd would be further distanced from even the mid table established clubs.

.........
Ray,leeds were 2 nd only to qpr in turnover last season so are more than matching these clubs with parachute payments, thing is most of them are ignoring FFP rules hoping to get back on that gravy train.pretty sure they were brought in because of players they had on their books from prem would not cripple a club but they abuse it and use it to out spend the rest and to hell with this new rules is their stance.

I think it works perfectly fairly if you keep a tight rein on finances, market your club properly so that the ground is used every day of the week, have a line of sponsors wanting to associate themselves with the club, have a head coach whose reputation is such that the top clubs in the world are climbing over each other to lend us players, have a Category 1 academy with staff who are absolutely top-notch and have a team ethic at the club that runs from the very top to the very bottom.

Just a shame about the 11 players that it's all tailored for 😄

Are parachute payments factored in to a clubs turnover? I've never seen anything to say it is. I thought it was to lessen the impact of the massive loss of TV rights.

FFP is supposed to ensure a clubs expenditure doesn't out way turnover, which is also why they won't factor in massive back handed sponsorship deals like the Man City/Etihad one?

Derby fans not being able to see the bigger picture again. Just seem to concentrate on firstly us and what their club is doing. With the later ignoring the excitement they had with a new investor and the sizable transfer fee they've laid out already
