Reina's puzzling move to Munich

Seems a strange move to me, this one. I would have thought that a keeper of Reina’s perceived quality would aim to be playing as a first choice at this time of his career, so given that he was displaced at Liverpool by a good but hardly incredible keeper in Mignolet, it seems odd that he may be moving to a completely new country, to compete with arguably the best keeper in the world.

I’m surprised other big clubs aren’t in for him given the £4Million release clause. Do you think that he has the confidence (or arrogance) that he can displace Neuer? Do you think that he has reached the point (like Torres, Owen etc), where he is happy to bulk out his trophy cabinet without having to do an awful lot, while picking up a nice wage? Or has his stock fallen so much that he hasn’t got the quality to be number 1 at a big club anymore?

All the best to him, but it does seem a strange move to me.

I wouldn't say it's that puzzling. Reina clearly wants to retain his wages and how many clubs can afford the luxury of spending around £100k a week on a back up keeper? Barca and Madrid already both have two top keepers so Bayern was the only real next option. Liverpool knew they weren't going to be able to ship him off with those wages unless they let him go at a cut down price. Everybody happy.

Feet up and let the cash flow!

He's fallen out with Rodgers big time. There was no way he was going to remain at the club.

I'm glad he's off our books
He looked disinterested for the last 18 months he played for us
He'd just stand there and let the ball pass him into the net
No passion to play for us in those times so Bon voyage Pepe and thanks for the earlier years

I doubt that Bayern are paying him anywhere near 100k a week.

You have got it in one . The way LFC are being managed they will let him go on a virtual free & agreed to pay 60% of his salary until his contract expires .

Napoli would have taken him as first choice if he lowered his wage demands.

Bet he thought people would be falling over themselves to snap him up.

Was a great keeper, it went badly wrong a few years back.
