Derby County 1-0 Rotherham

Sorry guys, this is through absolute desperation and frustration. Thanks Igor for your offer on fb (oo er!).

Yes,a day early but the mood seems buoyant....new signings....Florest reliving their past and looking like a massive pile up waiting to happen......optimism abounds......and this thread 'ain't gonna rival the Brighton one.....

Try and keep this one going.....someone will need to post the teams......if I can get access tomorrow,it will be the only way I can know what the heck is going on....
xx

Bryson and Martin were not firing on all cylinders yesterday that much is true. However from high in north stand Martin produced some excellent skill to create some golden chances that went begging.

We did create yesterday but just lacked that sharpness with that final touch. This was certainly the case for Brysons corner in the second half that floated perfectly in front of goal and not a derby shirt in sight. You won't see many balls drift as dangerously as that and not end up in the net this season.

Opening day in reality it's a good result and the holes in the performance are to be expected.

performance today doesn't concern me to me too much. The positive from not playing too well and winning on the 1st game means the coaching staff can work on things that didn't go too well in the game next week in training with set of players who will work better in training after winning their last game. Theres nothing worse than trying to improve set pieces etc in training with a set of players who are on a downer from a defeat.
we are 2 points better of than last season with a very good set of players and excellent coaching team.
I do think Rotherham are a better team than people give them credit for and set out to stop Derby playing. Derby should what a good team they are by not rushing, not changing tactics, being patient and doing the things they know they can do and taking the chance when it came and then defending as a team when we had to. Grant's save and Fozzy's clearance at the end won the 3 points. those 2 extra points might be vital in May.

Griff,

Spot on with Rotherham. They came to make the midfield very tight, or that's certainly how it looked at the top of north stand, and prevent as much of our flowing passing as they could.

They will do fine this season and I said as much to some of their fans after the game.

Like I have already said we did create some very good chances but we just seemed a few inches off that sharpness that carried us last term.

Just to say I was at the fan park yesterday. I had a few beers also had a word with john vickers. He told me we are bringing in A centre half

Cheers Wassa

Difficult to put my two pennorth worth with not being there.

Could feel the frustration from the posters on here but it did not seem to be a 'bad' performance.

There seems to be a lot of confidence - lets not be unconstructively negative. Yes, they're may have been players who did not 'perform' yesterday but that is why we have competition for places.

Roll on to Cumbria and give the likes of Mason, Roos and that Spanish chap a full run out.

If I had been you, Wassa, I would have asked him for a name. Presumably you were too star-struck to pop the question.

View I think Dru summed it up perfectly, we were just dusting the cobwebs off, first game and all that. But I've said last season numerous occasions, when Martin doesn't play well, we don't play well. To tell you the truth mate, I think cause we got used to such cracking football last season, we were expecting much of the same yesterday. We were about 95% yesterday! a few passes going astray etc! but we are nearly there.
I've just heard about Hughes, all he's got is a bad neck, I thought it was a bad knock on the hip from what I saw yesterday, he was holding it after he got a smash in it.

Vidal, before I got to speak to him I'd already had 6 pints of pedigree so I didn't want to say too much.
