Chesterfield v Huddersfield Town

Chesterfield v Huddersfield Town
Capital One Cup
Tue 12 Aug 2014, Proact Stadium, kick off 7:45pm

At the time of writing this, Mark Robins has left the club. We don't know if he walked or was pushed. Mr Hoyle's comments suggest he thought Robins was doing a good job. I think Robins walked out.

So, a weird start to the season, a dreadful first game and now manager less. Not the best way to prepare for a cup game. Will the formation change for this game? I think so. The players can't play 3-5-2, fact! Robins too stubborn to change, now he's gone, Mr Clark could have told him that being stubborn is not the way to go at Town! First job for the new manager, drop Peltier as captain and buy two quality strikers!

Chesterfield go in to this match with an opening game win against Leyton Orient, it finished two goals to one. They will sure smell blood, a manager less club are perceived as a sitting duck. Could this match be a mauling too? I doubt it, there has been a negative cloud around Town for a while now. It may not be all Robins doing, but the air may now be cleared for a fresh start. Town have enough good players to get a result from the short journey to Chesterfield.

If you are feeling like me, you probably aren't too bothered about the cup match. Should Town prioritise on the Championship or look for decent cup runs too? I look to getting things corrected quickly and plan for a good placement for this season. Yes, even a playoff or automatic promotion spot!

I'll go for a two one win for Town, Majewski and Wells to net.

Good result, great for Wells to get a hat trick. However, leaking goals like a sieve, this has to stop!

Chesterfield could have walked away triumphant, they contributed to their defeat. Town seem to have played well, I bet Lillis gave 'em a right rollicking at half time.

Upwards and onwards, UTT! 👍

Early start so gave up at 3-1....

What a game!

I usually detest playing in the crapital one cup but that's the kind of performance Wells needed to kick start his season. Hopefully we've now got a hungry, confident striker in these next few important league games. Chuffed for Lolley too.

Not his biggest admirer like some are, but fair play to Lillis. That game was dead but somehow we rescued it and still won at a canter. You can only think we'll be fired up for Saturday now.

Laughed when I saw that this morning. Hopefully we won see him for another 2 years now.
