Lennon

I don't get to many spurs matches as I live in Plymouth but managed to go to the match on Saturday. I was keen to see how we played in the new system and thought we did ok. Not a huge change from the last match I saw (hull in the cup) but the 2nd half we had much more pace in our attacks.
Been reading articles on here for a while and I know a player that really frustrates people on here is Lennon. A couple of seasons back he was terrorising defenses and looked like he could develop into a great player. Unfortunately he looks to have gone seriously downhill. He seems to have lost the pace that frightened full backs in the premier league. He doesn't seem to have any ability to go past players anymore or create anything. During the freindlies poch seems to have words with him every game and I wonder if he has the ability to fit into the new system.
Should he be one of the players we try to cash in on? I wonder if there will be any takers with his form and how much do you think we'd get?

He's a good winger when he's on form but the new system with 3 behind the lone striker doesn't necessarily mean there is a "winger". From what I've seen those positions are interchangeable and I'm not sure he fits into the system.

Thought he looked sharp against Shalke

He definitely hasn't lost his pace, we just haven't used a counter-attacking 442 style that gets the best from him since the Harry days.

I don't see him working in a front 3 apart from his obvious ability to close down defenders.. unless he improves his end product I think Poch will look to move him on at the end of the season.

Basically its make or break time for him, he was seriously mismanaged by AVB & Sherwood, with both managers asking him to create from deep and often against a settled defence.

Under Poch I believe our system will be able to get the best out of him, so if he fails to perform I will hold my hands up and admit he should go. Yet as of now, I think he should start.

Since Lennon has been at the club every manager that has been in charge has played him more often than not.

With the new system, we should be winning possession higher up the pitch. Under AVB we seemed to invite pressure, so Lennon was starting his forward runs from a much deeper position. Hopefully we'll see him running in behind more often. Let's just hope someone's taught him how to shoot.

Lol, Lennon's shooting is terrible. It makes me wonder what he does in training.

I've said it before, we just simply look better and more balanced with Lennon in the team. He might not get too many direct assists (i.e. the last person to touch the ball before the scorer puts it in the net) but his contribution to our attacking play is invaluable.

I really hope neither him or Townsend are sold.
