FC Santa Claus 1-2 Blyth Spartans

Goals (Assists)
FC Santa Claus – Campbell (Tevez)
Blyth Spartans – Vlaar (L. Insigne – Corner)
Blyth Spartans – Berardi (Destro)

MOTM – Alonso (Blyth Spartans)

A very tight clash here with despite Blyth trying to outnumber Santa Claus in midfield, they found the artist formerly known as Anfield Rap a particularly hard walnut to crack.

Whilst both teams had chances in this game, this was never going to be a high scoring game due to the well organised defences.

FC Santa Claus
Cillessen, Paredes, Garay, Demichelis, Schennikov, Casemiro, Besic, Biglia, Campbell, Tevez, Ibe (Traore)
Subs: Darlow, Oboabona, Drinkwater, Bentaleb, Traore

Sekhukhune Lions – Sterling (Jorginho)
Stockport County – Rakitic (Clasie)

MOTM – Jorginho (Sekhukhune Lions)

A game that you really couldn’t take your eyes off, with Park’s creative brain doing overtime and Leiva’s devastating attacking moves there was plenty for both managers to be happy with.

FC Pride 2 v 1 FL Fart

Goals (Assist)
Halilovic (Robben)
Pirlo (F/K)
Green (Britton)

MOTM : Mascherano. Marshalled the midfield and broke up play. Was wise when in possession and done exactly what was asked of him. No frills but effective.

Two good sets of tactics here. The home team going for a very balanced looking 4-3-3 with a nice mix of youth and experience. The visitors went for a 3-5-2
which seems to be very fashionable at the minute. The key in this match was Mascherano. FC Pride have a good system with him anchoring the midfield
and Britton doing the simple things well. This gave Halilovic a chance to impress and I liked the balance about their side. FL Fart can maybe count themselves unlucky but they have a good squad and a great set of tactics with pretty much every eventuality covered - apart from a wondergoal from Green

Enyeama, Janko, Kouyate, Abidal, Oczipka, Mascherano, Britton, Halilovic (Samper),

Fishguard Sports 3 v 3 Notts County

Goals (Assist)
Fishguard - Klaassen (Zivkovic)
Notts County - Thiago (Diaz)
Notts County - Lopes (Januzaj)
Notts County - Depay (Meyer)
Fishguard - Andersen (Klaassen)
Fishguard - Mitrovic (Klaassen)

MOTM : Klaassen - scored a lovely goal and created 2 others.
In my book probably the most integral player to how Fishguard
play.

2 young teams here both with their own ideas and definitive way
of playing. Both teams were looking to come out of the blocks fast
and play fast attacking football and adopting an intense pressing
game. This was going to create plenty of chances and with quite a few
young and relatively inexperienced players on the pitch then quite a
few goals. Klaassen was instrumental again for Fishguard although Notts
County managed to power in to quite a convincing lead. Fishguard however were relentless and 2 good substitutions swung this game as they grinded out a good draw. The main factor here was the freedom that was given to the 3 in behind the striker. With no defensive worries they (and their replacements) were relentless. It's risky - but it paid off today. Notts County will be disappointed to throw away a 2 goal lead but perhaps should have taken the foot off the gas a bit and made sure Fishguard's attack weren't afforded the space that they were.

Fishguard
Ryan, Veltman, Dendoncker, Engels, Bazoer, Jojic, Höjbjerg,
Zivkovic (Andersen), Klaassen, Fischer (Tankovic), Mitrovic
Subs: Rajkovic, Koch, Ritzmaier, Andersen, Tankovic

Ryan, Klaassen

Notts County
Scuffet, Darmian, Stones, Manolas, Bernat, Iturraspe, Diaz,
Lopes (Depay), Thiago, Januzaj, Meyer
Subs: Alcacer, Depay, Kongolo, Ledson, Boga

Thiago, Diaz

Goals (Assists)
Southend United – Sturridge (Markovic)
Cambuur – Gabriel (Bernardo Silva)
Southend United – Pjanic (Free Kick)

MOTM – Bernardo Silva (Cambuur)

The fruity still ’s Tippy! Only kidding two experienced dream leaguers here fought out yet another close match. LC I’m sure will agree from his matches that everyone is very closely matched and can take consolation that he’s unlucky not to get something from this game. LC remains in the pack, whilst Tippy with his impressive firepower remains the closest challenger to Blyth Spartans.

Southend United

Taiwan 1-2 Basingstoke Town

Goals (Assists)
Basingstoke – Boetius (Ramsey)
Basingstoke – Ramsey (Free Kick)
Taiwan – Toni (Barkley)

MOTM – Ramsey (Basingstoke)

Quite how these two teams are currently propping up the table I will never quite understand, as they could quite easily be challenging for top spot if things had gone their way.

Couldn’t justify more than a one goal victory, as whilst I do rate Basingstoke’s attacking play extremely highly, I also rank Taiwan as having amongst if not the best defence in the league.

I’ll leave this game how I started it, in that imo both these teams need to keep on doing what they are doing, and I’m sure both will be in the hunt for D1 football next season.

Taiwan
Navas, Coleman, Musacchio, Laporte, Shaw, Can, Tielemans (Dembele), Ward-Prowse, Barkley, Di Natale, Toni
Subs: De Santis, Sama, Teixeira, Iheanacho, Dembele

Subs: Mersin, Bellerin, Kallstrom, Gnabry, Austin
Heylen, Gnabry

Barcelona 1 v 0 Arsenal

Goals (Assist)
Kishna (Tello)

MOTM : Tello. Busy all day up and down the flanks and was at the heart of everything creative for Barcelona.

One of those games that was really tight to call and there really wasn't a
whole lot in it. Both teams with plenty of experienced heads while at the same time a few exciting young talents. The substititions won the game and it was one of those exciting young talents who scored it. Plenty for both teams to be positive about. Strong tactics from both sides and more importantly - the correct players for the tactics.

Barcelona
Iralzoz, De Marcos, San Jose, Distin, Balenziaga, Gabi, Tiago, Cuenca (Kishna), Giovani (Watt), Tello, Aduriz (Affelay)
Subs : Gurpegi, Kishna, Sigthorsson, Watt, Affelay

Subs : Raeder, Naldo, Diaby, Quaresma, Drogba
