Odd as the managers job is to give the players confidence. So you are saying LVG spent all summer giving them confidence and building them up for nothing?

Odd your make that assumption, because i never said that, the pundits, press and fans were bigging them up, LVG made no such statement!!!!! So where did you get that from???

LVG doesn't have to say it. It's the job of the manager to instill confidence everyday on the training pitch.
You made an absolutely ridiculous statement to try and gloss over an appalling statement from your manager. He was wrong to say it. He doesn't have to say he is trying to give them confidence that is a given from every manager at every level.

He struggles with English, I won't read too much into it. Listening to him talk you can actually see he is struggling to come up with some words.

I am Dutch, live in Dublin, LVG's English is poor. I have noticed a few times he doesnt understand the question fully or thinks the journo means something else, and his choice of words is often a bit weird, and not really what he actually means to say.

He wasn't speaking in English. The papers are quoting from an interview to a Dutch radio station.
