Moreno/Johnson

Quick though for the City game, would you rather throw Moreno in at the deep end and take the risk of him getting tore apart. Can happen, may happen, may not. Or would you rather watch Johnson try to figure out what day of the week it is for 90 minutes again?

All honesty though, used to really rate Johnson. Never seen a player become so bad so quickly without plausible reason.

Only thing is I wasn't overly impressed with Manquillo

our attacks stalled down his flank all day

I had the same view. The thing is a lot of people will rate younger players higher in a game, even if the older player was better. I've noticed that a lot on here.

I feel Johnson should come back on the left and Moreno right. It would give us great balance going forward also.

Maquillo, although very early to say, reminds me of Arbeloa whereby he defends but does nothing in attack but keep it simple. I'm sure he can improve on that in future.

Right and Moreno left*

is early doors anyway

the new signings will need to prove themselves in training and/or start coming on if we're 2+ goals up

Manquillo is still very raw and for me has a lot of work to do especially in an attacking sense to become a regular. The signs are positive though and he should get better.

For me Moreno looks strong and fit enough to start the next game - if he was good to start a super cup final he should be fine for us also. Rodgers clearly doesn't trust Enrique as much to start hence why Johnson started on the left - either that or he still isn't at full fitness which I doubt. Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Moreno to start against City for me.

I'd go with that also.

Moreno LB and Manquillo RB for City, simple as that.

So excited by Moreno he is a fantastic player. We have really good depth in the full back position now, and a large proportion of them are versatile and can play either left or right back.

Allen in for Lucas as well (still baffled he started today to be honest). Keep the rest the same.

Fingers crossed we can come away from the Etihad with a point it would be a great result. With two very tough away games now it was crucial we won today and we've managed to do so despite playing poorly, good early signs.

depends on training lads...

really does.

If moreno looks like a 3 legged donkey ok lets not risk it but if he looks like he can look the right way and kick the ball more than a 3 year old girl he'd be in for me.

I would start Moreno if he looks fit and sharp. Ideally it's be Manquillo and Enrique but I don't think Enrique is fit as he didn't make the squad today.

The thing that frustrates me the most about Johnson is that he just doesn't seem to care and his concentration is appalling!!

Youd rather start a defensively inept johnson over manquillo because he used to be good at attacking?

Jon Flanagan

Flanagan won't be fit, he is not back in full training until the day of the game.
