Better out wide or as a number 10?
The more I watch the lad, I feel his true position is as a number 10.
He can shift the ball left or right with complete control and ease, has great strength to keep hold of the ball, is full of tricks and has vision to match al these traits.
Out wide I think he is predictable and although he is blessed with blistering pace I don't think beating a man on the outside is his strength.
If anything I prefer Coutinho coming in as he really forces a fullback to retreat rather than commit.
Am I alone in thinking this?

What T Bone said - at the tip he is frightening he has great support in behind with Hendo and Allen/Coutinho
Perhaps it gives him a bit more license to do what he does best. Some of the other formations restrict him.

One of the main reasons we were so succesful last season was due to having Suarez, Sturridge & Sterling all floating around which had the defenders in two minds to track them or zonal mark them.
Our midfield is not good at defending so we should go on the attack in every game. When we brought on Lambert yesterday it changed the game. Their midfield sat deeper and there defence was stretched.

Allen changed it imo lucas waa awful

Doesn't really matter, Lallana, Sterling & Cout will all rotate. So exciting knowing that all 3 of those are all great in all 3 attacking midfield positions. The energy and pressing will be great to see aswell. And then we still have Markovic to consider

Lambert definitely had an effect as well as Allen.
When we crossed the ball we caused different problems because we had hardly crossed it all game.
I can't say what our best set up is yet either but that's ok. It's to be expected when you make a lot of squad changes.
Rodgers will find a way, it's what he has excelled at.

Sterling will end up as a striker.

I preferred the diamond.
Gerrard/Allen/lucas at the base.
2 of: henderson/Allen/lallana/coutinho/can for the sides of the diamond
Sterling/coutinho/lallana/markovich at the tip
2 of: sturridge/sterling/lambert/markovich/Borini up front swapping Borini out if we get a marquee signing because he will be off!!
Raheems best role at the moment, number 10, but he could do a job up front, his finishing is getting better and better.
These permutations are just the core 18. Also have suso ibe etc to consider!

I think personally he's a good false winger. when he got between full back and cb ahead of sturridge he is very good....
i don't think he's quite a no 10 but has creativity
he's flexible and thats the important thing rather than one fixed slot
