Did you enjoy it whilst it lasted????

I seem to be in a very small minority that has accepted that united now face years in the wilderness.
I always thought that when Fergie left the “empire would crumble" and so it proved.
Last seasons disaster was inevitable and probably would have happened with any coach.

From my point of view I loved the fergie years and enjoyed the unrivalled success he brought. You have to enjoy the good times and the sign of a real fan is to support the team through thick and thin. Its safe to say that we are having to face many “thin" years.

That’s not to say as a fan we should accept mediocrity. Of course not. However some fans do have to lose the arrogance and accept that United have no divine right for success. Those who are still firm in the belief United will sign 200 million worth of talent in 2 weeks when our annual profit estimates are about 25 million. Well, good luck to them. Enjoy your world and enjoy your impending disappointment.

May be its time to reassess, rebuild and start again. Bring out the youth and evolve and in many years we’ll start to get it right again. There are no quick fixes. United have lost the winning habit they had driven into them from the much lauded Scot in charge. May be we’ll see who the real fans are and when we do actually win something it’ll be a real treat rather than just a given.

Its going to be a painful journey for some, particularly those who’ve only known the Sir Alex years but it wont all be bad. We will get stick, we will get talk of Liverpool and how they fell into the same boat after years of dominance, but it might be FUN ya know!

Nah. We are too big a club to fall into the wilderness for many years. It's completely different to when Liverpool declined.
I reckon we will be back challenging in the next 2-3 yrs

we wasted a season under moyes so at this stage we should have been half way to getting back to genuine contenders. Shouldnt take more than 2 seasons to get back to were we should be from here.

How so? Liverpool declined because they systematically replaced quality with inferior players.. as we have and continue to do for years... At the same time, our rivals continue to improve year on year. Another season like this and we will be years behind our rivals.

Funny enough, I was thinking the same thing on Saturday. I don't think we'll go the Liverpool way simply because we should be able to afford to spend ourselves out of trouble over 2 seasons or so.

But yes, we need to accept that we are not the winning machine we used to be and not take winning at least one trophy per season for granted for now.

I for one, will simply enjoy the good moments this season and see where we are in terms of playing style and personnel at the end of the season.
