Very refreshing.

The Costa will flop brigade must be crying themselves to sleep tonight after he scored his all-important first PL goal and he did it in his first competitive game which is even better.

BBC reminded me how bad it was last season...........according to them our strikers didnt manage an away goal in 2013! Only caught the highlights but this match plus the pre season and things are certainly looking much better this season.

Costa did lose the ball a few times but he did have a good game, Came deep and got involved in play. Can't win a header for shlt though. So didn't get the hopeless long balls by Courtois and the defenders.

Don`t get too carried away - it`s the first game of the season against a newly-promoted side. Glad he played well, but he hasn`t finished top scorer yet!

Nobody is getting carried away. Just noting that he scored his first PL goal straight away which is good news as it immediately takes a lot of pressure off.

Shevchenko's recent advice to Costa was to get his first PL goal as quickly as possible and he's done that now

Yeah, Costa is not a target man yet.
Needs to work on his chest trap and timing of headers(leaps too early, often gets beaten).

Costa's manoeuvre on the (half) turn with the ball at his feet, is splendid.
Great acceleration and (deceptively) terrifying turn of pace.
