Carvalho

United were very interested in William Carvalho under Moyes but this looks to be either another target Van Gaal doesnt fancy or we arent willing to go near he's buyout.

For me i think a top class, disciplined defensive midfielder would solve a lot of United problems. Not all but it'll go along way. I'm not sure Fletcher is up to the job anymore and Felliani is truely woeful positionally.

I still look at the likes Man City and the sheer size of their midfield would streamroller ours. A midfield three of Herrera, Fletcher and Mata will get outmuscled by alot of teams in the premiership and its a big concern.

We've got no pace In this team as it is. We need some fast players.

Carvalho is too slow.

Agree, but equally we need a midfielder who can protect the back four and distribute the ball forwards.

There is so much wrong with the squad right now it's difficult to now where to start,

I agree fully that's what we need. But I think we should be able to find someone who doesn't have the pace of an oil tanker.

All of cms are fairly slow as it is.

You're right it's difficult to know where to start.

He is slow, I pointed that out when we were first linked to him... but that is not a make or break part of a CMs game, as long as he can make up for it. Anyone saying he is too slow is missing the point.

His positioning and distribution nullify that lack of pace. His finest asset is the ability to turn defence into attack in a split second, he picks out the perfect pass to the right player most every time he wins the ball. This means he doesn't have to get out of position to make a huge difference, therefore he keeps his defensive position and will be just as effective as someone with pace to burn.

A Schneiderlin, De Jong type not the prettiest on the eye but effective and would give us bite and energy in the centre

I haven't seen enough of him, but that is what we need. Our attacking players operate best in space and when we knock the ball about aimlessly for 2/3 minutes before getting in the final third we are nullified.

Absolutely spot on, that's exactly what he does. He's also very, very difficult to take the ball from making him a great insurance policy for the defence, Rojo benefited immensely from him last season.

If you want a headless chicken running around just look another way. Otherwise just let the lad grow another year and prove himself in the CL, which he surely will. Also, Sporting really has no interest in selling him below clause as we only own 60% of his economic rights.

Thanks for adding a Sportinguista view.

Carvalho is a far more technical player than the DM tag would suggest.

What are your thoughts on the Rojo deal, do you think he will do well at UTD? How about Nani, must be exciting seeing him return?

Boa sorte para esta nova época!
