Giroud didn't buy himself. Giroud doesn't pick himself.
Guess who did. Guess who continues to do so...?
Mr. A Wenger.
That is where all this vitriol should be directed.
Why the feck does he seem to believe Giroud is good enough?
And why is Olivier getting dogs abuse when Wenger is the fool who blindly chooses him season after season and refuses to buy in a better replacement (of which there are many)?
Misdirected hate

Do you believe that 22 goals in 51 appearances represents a striker who can win us the PL/CL?
In the season before RVP left us he scored 37 in 48.
Since leaving he has scored 48 in 76 for United.
THAT is what a striker's stats should look like.
If you don't think we should be targeting a forward like that the you have no ambition for this club...

Wenger probably deserves blame for the way he used him last season. But, to his credit, he did try to give Giroud a rest for the start of this season. Had it not been for Sanogo's injury, he probably would have been rested for Besiktas as well.
I still don't understand how a player who managed a decent goal return last season could be so despised. Yes, he has his limits, but he's not an Adebayor who only bothers when he wants.
He played poorly in Turkey. But he also looked knackered. I think, with the sheer number of games he played last season, he only managed to get through on adrenaline; but it's now catching up to him.

As OP said the vitriol should not be aimed at him . He has his limitations and is not good enough to be our first choice striker.
The blame should be laid at Wenger's door for not buying a suitable replacement for RVP when it was obvious that he would leave and for persisting with Sanogo who does not possess any footballing skills at all.
The jury is out on Sanchez as a possible lone striker. He needs time to adapt to the team and the pace of the prem. I would like to see him playing just off Giroud, like Dzeko and Aguerro.

Why does there have to be hate and vitriol towards anyone?

Because when people are paid millions a year you expect them to do their jobs competively, that goes for both Wenger and Giroud.

For gawds sake, you make it sound like we barely avoided relegation.

Especially against an Arsenal player? This is a witch hunt worse than against Ramsey two years ago. And they suppose to be Arsenal supporters

So that's worthy of actual hate is it? Worthy of directing vitriol at?
Frustration sure, but hate? Save your hate for the rapists and the murderers and the John Terries of this world.
