I would like to gauge the opinion of other Liverpool fans on this subject. Personally, I think it's time we looked at it properly. What say you?

Lots of fans already stand throughout the game, I think it will improve the atmosphere as well, obviously this is a sensitive subject as many people tragically lost their lives however I believe there other factors to blame than just terracing at Hillsborough - more to do with poor policing and the old style of stadiums and 'penning'.

Under the laws and regulations that this safe standing would be under, means that a tragic incident has no chance of happening again.
It's a sensitive subject, but there's no debate.

Yeah it's cut and dried to be honest.
Obviously those with close ties to Hillsborough will have an emotional response to the idea and that is perfectly understandable.
Rationally though there is really no solid argument against it.
FSG will have a big decision to make in a few years because it seems highly likely to happen sooner or later and it will make financial sense for them to introduce it into the Kop, obviously that is likely to put them on collision course with the Hillsborough groups so it will be a very difficult one for them to square.
Maybe if the new inquest leads to some proper justice to those responsible then the subject will be easier to tackle.

I have 3 friends that were pulled out of the Leppings Lane end that are all in favour of it.

No problem with it at all. People need to remember the tragedies of the past were due to safety aspects that came from a different age.
100% different now.

Supporters groups give two main reasons for the reintroduction of safe standing. Firstly the better experience and secondly the reduced cost of attending the matches.
As I understand it ... these safe standing areas cited in Germany are in fact in seated areas (minus the seat for league games and then the seats are attached to the 'back supports' to comply with regulations for European matches) - if this is the case then I really can't see the owners of the clubs ( especially those which have no problems selling all their match tickets) basically wanting to reduce their match day income. I think any clubs who are in support of safe seating are not in the same position and are thinking that more fans might attend their matches because of a cheaper option -but this could backfire if these 'safe' tickets are bought by fans who already pay for seats

I think the removal of the iron fences around the grounds have done as much for crowd safety as the introduction of all seater stadiums, I would love to see the KOP restored to its former glory, imagine the noise on European nights!

I'm a Glasgow Rangers fan and we have had 2 Ibrox disasters and the second one in 1971 in which 66 people died and over 200 were injured due to fans being crushed. My Dad was at the game and narrowly avoided the tragedy. So I get where some Liverpool fans come from with this.
However safe standing is nothing like it was in the past. There are barriers for ever 2 rows and it is 100% safe. You can't have a massive movement or surge of people. As someone already mentioned there are now no cages in front of stands as well. It's a no brainer.
I hope we get it at Ibrox, however Celtic recently applied for it at their stadium and it was turned down stupidly.
