Proof that many fans are Glory Hunters?

To canvass a slight generalisation, I can't help but conclude that the fans of the bigger clubs are chasing the silverware.

I've posted articles on the Villa board, and responded to Villa-related posts. So far, we have achieved 2 responses! And we're considered a (relatively) big club with some level of success.

However, posting on the Chelsea, City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal boards seems to attract a barrage of comments (depending on the content!).

Is there a disproportionate number of citizens in those corners of the country, or do they attract more supporters because they are a big club? Or have they become big clubs BECAUSE of the support they receive?

Or do fans of "little" clubs simply not bother posting?

There seem to be hundreds of members of 606, and the vast majority seem to be associated with the above clubs. The sealer for me is that, when I used to post on the BBC 606 board several years ago, you would hardly see any articles pertinent to events at Chelsea or City. Yet, since they have joined the spotlight, they have plucked fans out of thin air!

It surely has to be a success thing?

Before United fans remind me that they have been one of the biggest clubs in the world for over half a century, and always pulled in huge attendances, even when playing in the Second Division, I know; but I can't multi-board so I thought I'd utilise yours, as you seem to be branded "glory hunters" more than is reasonable!

I think one only has to look at attendances at Villa Park and then draw a conclusion

Yes, we should use online site numbers as "proof".

Don't worry. I haven't seen any glory-hunting Arsenal fans in nearly a decade.

Topics that spark debate and elicit discussion are not necessarily "WUMs" you know.

Nope, but all your sharticles are WUMs."

Well you just stick to your interesting discussions about Joel Campbell then, and let us get on with it.

...........

To be honest I think it is very rerasonable.

Look at the whiners we have seen on here for the last month and it is very apparant just how many glory hunters we have.

You have posted ONE article on the Villa board, and that was some dull crap about pop songs.

All your other articles are WUMs, and WUMs tend to generate a bit of discussion.

How very dare you DJ... Scurrilous accusations.

A fan of a club talking about a player at his club... Shocking!!

"I would have put it on the Chelsea and City board, but I wanted an intelligent discussion"

Perhaps if you did do that, you would have realised there isn't many City fans on here as most started a new forum up after 606 finished.

Most clubs have forums that are fan run that have a lot more posters than sites like this.

And clearly you weren't on the old 606 board much, I can't speak for the city board as I rarely visited it but the Chelsea board was always a very active board. I joined it in May/June 2003, I believe it had only been going about a year or so then.

Is VC calling any MUFC fans expressing concern about United at the moment a glory hunter? Wouldn't we have facked off to the city and Chelsea boards by now?

Using online board as a guide is a bit of a mistake IMO.

For example this forum was spawned from BBC shutting down 606, which spawned a few new forums of which this is one.

Some fanbases wholesale moved to one particular forum or another, because thats where the other fans went to...
