Match of the Day at 50

Marking half a century since the first show was aired, 22nd August 1964.

The black cat running around the side of the Anfield pitch I recall.

10.35pm BBC1

This should go out to the whole of the Premier League plus Leeds, Blackpool, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Blackburn and Wolves who were in the First Division that season.

And Leicester played Sunderland on this day,we were winning 2-0, Sunderland fought back to be in the lead 3-2 in the first half, Leicester 45 seconds into the second half made it 3-3 and thats how it finished,we also lost to Chelsea in the league cup that season. having won the league cup the previous season.

What a difference half a century makes. The idea of Chelsea beating us 50 years on is laughable
