Wolves v Cardiff match day thread.

Cardiff next test for Wolves

It looked like a difficult start to the season for Wolves when the fixtures were released and we saw that 3 of the first 4 games were against teams in the Premier League last season, armed with their massive parachute payments. But after wins against Norwich and Fulham they will be looking for the hat trick when Cardiff visit Molineux on Saturday.

The welsh team have made a good start to the season with 7 points on the board from their first three games, having secured home wins against Huddersfield and Wigan after an opening day draw at Blackburn. Since last season they have lost the likes of Craig Bellamy, Jordan Mutch, Gary Medel, Frazier Campbell, Steven Caulker and Tommy Smith. And have bought in Adam Le Fondre, Federico Machedo, Tom Adeyemi, Sean Morrison and Anthony Pilkington..

The head to head records between Wolves and Cardiff are very even with almost an equal number of wins for each side and draws since the 80s. But before that time Cardiff were a team Wolves really enjoyed playing. They were regularly the victors in the 50s and 60s and often with plenty of goals including a 7-1 success at Molineux and a 9-1 away win.

I don't suppose we will see anything like that this weekend but if Wolves maintain the standards they set at Fulham in midweek they will certainly stand every chance of getting more points on the board. It's hard to imagine anything but an unchanged team and although they look thin on cover and competition in some positions, there looks little doubt that the first eleven is capable of having a fine season.

wow, how bad are they

Wumming aside, they were abysmal. They have no creativity, no goalscorers and their defence is a complete embarrassment.

120 minutes and two penalties into the game and Oxford's OG outscores the entire Albion side.

Stick that on Arsie's thread

Woeful. The main thing is they're through, and that's what counts. Which side looked the most Division 4?

Oxford did in the first half but the roles were reversed for the second half and most of extra time.
